For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that were wanting, and 'appoint elders in every city, as I gave 6 thee charge; if any man is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children that believe, who are not 7 accused of riot or unruly. °For 'the' bishop must be blameless, as 'God's steward; not selfwilled, not angry, no brawler, no striker, not 8 greedy of filthy lucre; but given to hospitality, a lover of good, Isober9) minded, just, holy, temperate; holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able both to exhort in the sound "doctrine, and to 'convict the gainsayers.

Wherefore, though I have all boldness in Christ to enjoin thee that (9) which is befitting, yet for love's sake I rather beseech, being such a one as Paul 1the aged, and now a 10) prisoner also of Christ Jesus: I beseech thee for my 'child', whom I have begotten in my bonds, 2One11) simus, who was 'aforetime unprofitable to thee, but now is profitable to 12 thee and to me: whom I have sent 'back to thee in his own person', that 13 is, my very heart: whom I would

I will repay it: 'that I say not unto thee how that thou owest to me 20 even thine own self besides. Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my heart' in 'Christ'. 21 Having confidence in thine obedience I write unto thee, knowing that thou wilt do 'even beyond what! of his glory, and the 'very' image of his substance', and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had made purification of sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty 4 on high; having become byl so much better than the angels, as he hath 'inherited a more excellent name than

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things that were heard, lest haply' we 'drift away 2 from them. For if the word spoken through angels 'proved' stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; (3 how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation? which 'having at the first been spoken 'through the Lord, was confirmed unto us by them that 4) heard; God also bearing witness with them, both by signs and wonders, and by manifold powers', and by 2gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will.
