THIS PUBLICATION is the result of much thought and planning on the part of the students of the Dental Department who have felt that a publication was necessary in the present condition of the college. In publishing this journal we have several objects in view, which we hope will be accomplished to a greater or less extent. It is a fact acknowledged by all in the profession that the graduates and practitioners in general know but comparatively little about the courses offered at our dental college,and very few of those who have been in practice for ten or fifteen years are cognizant of the improvements which have taken place in the curriculum of their own alma mater. This is not because we have not literature enough but because there are few publications which bring the subject into plain view of the practitioner. And as the general standing of a profession. depends upon the standing of all members of the profession, which in turn depends upon the education, it follows that, if closer contact were made between the general practitioner and the college, the courses of study would be more advanced and valuable. It is with the object of bringing the college and its aim up to the door of the practitioner that this publication is ventured. It is also meant to be the vehicle by which our Stu'dents' Dental Society may be brought to view. This society, under whose auspices this journal is published, has been in existence but little over a year but has already accomplished which has amply repaid all connected with it.
