This meeting has been called for public testimony with respect to two bills dealing with the dairy industry, to wit, H.R. 3609 by Mr. Poage, of Texas, and H.R. 3828, by Mr. Stalbaum, a member of the subcommittee. And at this point in the record I would like to introduce a letter from the Department of Agriculture dated April 5, 1965, addressed to Mr. Cooley, the chairman of the Committee on Agriculture of the House, from Under Secretary Charles S. Murphy, together with the two bills previously mentioned. While I have not read this report from the Department in its entirety, it compares H.R. 3609 with the Proxmire bill, S. 1915; ment and if there is no objection we will make this letter, together although the report is favorable there are some suggestions for amendwith the bills, a part of the record at this point.
