DEAR MR. CHAIRMAN: In response to your request made at your Subcommittee hearings on June 16, 1967, of our Company representative Mr. Emmet E. Wolter, that we furnish your Subcommittee a description of our acreage selection totaling 12,800 acres, which would be eligible for Federal geothermal leases under the conversion provisions of the Johnson and Hosmer Bills, H.R. 4740 and H.R. 715 now pending before your Subcommittee, enclosed are the legal descriptions of the areas included in our acreage selection, which was referred to by Mr. Wolter in his testimony before your Subcommittee.

Of the 15,105.73 acres acquired by our partner M & T Incorporated (successor in interest to the S. I. Corporation) prior to the September 7, 1965 date, Signal Oil and Gas Company, through the authority of its agreement with M & T Incorporated, and in the event that legislation is enacted by the Congress incorporating the conversion privilege as expressed in Sections 4 of either the Johnson Bill (H.R. 4740) or the Hosmer Bill (H.R. 715), will be retaining the acreage described on pages 1 through 9 of the Exhibit attached hereto. Pages 10 and 11 of the Exhibit described the acreage which would not be converted pursuant to the acreage limitations imposed by H.R. 4740 and H.R. 715. Our Company very deeply appreciates the continued effort of your Subcommittee to enact an appropriate geothermal resources leasing act.
