Mr. Chapman, from the judiciary committee, submitted the following report:

Mr. President:

Your committee have had under consideration,

Senate File No. 24,

A bill for an act to repeal section 26, of chapter 22, of the general statutes relating to the payment of fees in the district and supreme courts,

And report the same back, with the recommendation that the said bill do pass.

Also,

Senate File No. 41,

A bill for an act concerning the competency of jurors in cer

tain cases,

And report the bill back, with the recommendation that the same do pass.

Also,

Senate File No. 49,

A bill for an act entitled "An act to amend section 117, chapter 15, of the criminal code,

And recommend that the same do pass.

Also,

Senate File No. 26,

A bill for an act to amend section 1, of an act entitled "An act to amend section 592, of the code of civil procedure," approved February 24, 1875,

And report the same back, with the following amendments: Amend the title of said bill by substituting, in lieu of said title, the following:

"A bill for an act to amend section one of an act entitled, an act to amend section five hundred and ninety-two of the code of civil procedure," approved February 24, 1875.

Insert after the word "that," in first line of section one, the

following:

"Section one of an act entitled an act to amend."

Also,

Strike out the words "Section 592 of said code" in section 2, and insert as follows:

"Section one of said act."

And recommend the said bill do pass as amended.
Also,

Senate File No. 37,

A bill for an act to amend sections 308 and 311, of chapter 57, of the general statutes, and to provide for the settling of bills of exceptions with the following amendments:

Insert after the title of the bill the following words: "Be it enacted by the legislature of the state of Nebraska, that."

Also,

Strike out the word "thirty," in the 9th line of section two, and insert in lieu thereof the word "fifteen."

Also,

Strike out of the 11th line of section 2 the word "Ninety," and insert in lieu thereof the word "Forty."

And further amend by striking out of section 2 all after the word "record," in the 39th line of said section, continuing to and including the word "possible," in the 44th line of that section. And strike out all of section 4.

And report the same back, with the recommendation that the bill be printed for general consideration.

Also,

Senate File No. 52,

A bill for an act to amend section 23, chapter 22, in relation to fees of witnesses, general statutes of Nebraska.

And report the same back without recommendation.

Also,

Senate File No. 23,

A bill for an act to prevent the fraudulent transfer of personal property.

And report the said bill back, with a recommendation that the same be indefinitely postponed.

Also,

Senate File No. 25,

A bill for an act to amend sections 350, 352, 353 and 354, of chapter 57, general statutes, relating to civil procedure,

And recommend the same do not pass.

Also,

Senate File No. 29,

A bill for an act to amend section 5, of chapter 34, entitled "Interest," of the revised statutes of Nebraska,

And report the same back with a recommendation that the said

bill do not pass.

Also,

Senate File No. 47,

A bill for an act to provide for the publication and distribution of the general election law to members of election boards,

And report the same back with the recommendation that the said bill do not pass.

Also,

Senate File No. 46,

A bill for an act to amend section 12 of an act entitled "An act to provide a general election law,'

And report the said bill back with a recommendation that the same do not pass.

Also,

Senate File No. 48,

A bill for an act to amend section 121 of the criminal code,

chapter 58 of the general statutes of 1873,

And recommend that said bill do not pass.

Also,

A bill for an act to amend section 529 of the code of civil

And report the same back with the recommendation that said bill do not pass.

Have had the same under consideration and would recommend

That the senate take a recess of thirty minutes.

A committee from the house, consisting of Messrs. Northrup, Pritchett and Caldwell, appeared and informed the senate that the house was ready to meet in joint convention, at 12 o'clock, M., to complete the election of a United States senator.

A call of the house being demanded,
