RESOLUTIONS.

Mr. Ferguson offered the following resolution, which, on motion, was adopted:

WHEREAS, The east wall of the senate chamber is badly cracked and in a dangerous condition, and that the additional weight of a crowded gallery increases the danger, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the door-keeper of the gallery is hereby instructed to keep all persons out of the gallery on the east side of the chamber.

Mr. Calkins offered the following resolution, and moved its adoption :

Resolved, That the senate adjourn at 11:30 of this forenoon until Monday at 2 o'clock P. M.

Mr. Holt moved

To amend by adjourning until 2 o'clock on Tuesday.

Mr. Crawford moved

To lay the resolution on the table,

Which was not agreed to.

The amendment offered by Mr. Holt was not concurred in.
The question recurring upon the motion to adopt the resolution,

LINCOLN, January 8, 1877.

I am directed by the house to inform your honorable body that the house has adopted the following resolution :

Resolved, That a committee of three on the part of the house be appointed to confer with a similar committee on the part of the senate for the purpose of agreeing upon a uniform construction of section 11, article III, of the constitution, in the application of that section to amendments, and that the joint committee be instructed to take the advice of the supreme court.

And that Messrs. Phillips, Healey and St. Clair have been appointed as such committee on the part of the house, and respectfully ask your concurrence therein.
