9. James Jones. Crime, embezzlement; sentence, one year without labor; convicted September 14th, 1876, in the district court of Cass County. Sentence commuted October 6th, 1876, to one month's imprisonment, upon recommendation of the Judge (Pound) who passed sentence upon him, a long petition of citizens of Cass County, and upon account of ill health, extreme age, and former good character.

10. Thomas Tormey. Crime, grand larceny; sentence three years; convicted at the February term, 1875, of the district court of Douglas County. Sentence commuted October 17, 1876, to one year and nine months' imprisonment, upon a long petition of the leading citizens of Douglas County, and upon representations made by the warden of the penitentiary.

REMISSION OF FINES.

Report of fines remitted by the governor agreeably with the provisions of section 565 of the criminal code, general statutes.

1. M. O. Sullivan, convicted of assault in Franklin County district court, June term, 1874; amount of fine twenty-five dollars. Remission granted March 9, 1875, upon the petition of numerous good citizens of Franklin County.

2. Robert A. Lord, convicted of County district court, September, 1874; amount of fine fifty dollars and costs, amount remitted, twenty-five dollars and costs. Remission granted May 1st, 1875, upon a petition of a large number of citizens of Franklin County.

3. Phillip Curran, convicted of gambling in the Clay County district court, spring term, 1875; amount of fine fifty dollars and

costs. Remission granted January 17th, 1876, upon the recommendation of the district attorney and petition of citizens of Clay County.

4. William Groove, convicted of assault and battery in the district court of Butler County, at the May term, 1874; amount of fine fifty dollars. Remitted April 12, 1876, upon the recommendation of the prosecuting attorney, the county officers of Butler County, and many other good citizens.

5. William Griffin, convicted of assault and battery at the May term, 1874, of the district court of Butler County; amount of fine fifty dollars. Remitted April 12, 1876, upon the recommendation of the prosecuting attorney, the county officers of Butler County, and a large number of good citizens.

6. Samuel S. McElvin. Convicted of assault and battery at the May term, 1874, of the district court of Butler County; amount of fine fifty dollars. Remitted April 12, 1876, upon the recommendation of the prosecuting attorney, the county officers of Butler County, and many other citizens.

7. George Cooper. Convicted of assault and battery at the May term, 1874, of the district court of Butler County; amount of fine fifty dollars. Remitted April 12, 1876, upon the recommendation of the prosecuting attorney, the county officers of Butler County, and other good citizens.
