GROSS RECEIPTS FROM STAMPS IN THE UNITED KINGDOM DURING THE FINANCIAL YEAR ENDED THE 31ST MARCH, 1871: GROSS RECEIPTS FROM TAXES IN THE UNITED KINGDOM DURING THE FINANCIAL YEAR ENDED THE 31ST OF MARCH, 1871 : THE payments into the Exchequer for the financial year 1870-71 were, for Excise £1,128,000, and for Stamps £418,000 in excess of the estimate. The Income Tax realized the exact amount estimated, £6,300,000. An increase of £100,000 in the Probate Duties was chiefly owing to two large payments of £46,500 and £25,500 for properties valued respectively at £3,200,000 and £1,800,000.
