Mr. Reed moved to amend that when Senate adjourn it be to meet Wednesday morning, at 10:30.

Said amendment was non-concurred in by the following vote:
In the affirmative were-

In the negative-None.

In accordance with the direction of the President, the Secretary carried the following bills to the House of Assembly, and informed it that the Senate had passed the same and requests its concurrence therein:

Senate Bill No. 8, entitled "A further supplement to the act entitled 'An act respecting the orphans' court, and relating to the powers and duties of the ordinary, and the orphans' court and surrogates (Revision), approved March twenty-seventh, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four,

And

Senate Bill No. 9, entitled "An act validating defective conveyances and making the record thereof admissible in evidence."

In accordance with the direction of the President, the Secretary carried the following bills to the House of Assembly, and informed it that the Senate had passed the same,

Assembly Bill No. 71, entitled "An act in relation to the manner of paying monthly pay-rolls, police department, fire department and city home, in certain cities in this state, giving the common council or other governing body power in relation thereto,"

Assembly Bill No. 76, entitled "An act to grant and release the title and interest of the people of the state of New Jersey in and to certain real estate of which William H. Townsend died seized in the city of Orange, and in the tawnship of East Orange, in the county of Essex,"

And

Assembly Bill No. 173, entitled "A further supplement to an act entitled 'An act concerning the settlement and collection of arrearages of unpaid taxes, assessments and water rates and water rents in cities of this state, and imposing and levying a tax, assessment and lien in lieu and instead of such arrearages and to enforce the payment thereof, and to provide for the sale of lands subject to future taxation and assessment,'" passed March thirtieth, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-six.

The Senate then adjourned.

The session was opened by prayer by the Rev. Wm. P. Evans, of Paterson.

Under the direction of the President, the Secretary called the Senate, when the following Senators appeared and answered the call: Messrs. Barber, Daly, Francis, Johnson H. W., Johnson W. M., Ketcham, Kuhl, Miller, Parry, Stanger, Stokes, Voorhees, Williams (President)-13.

Mr. Voorhees moved that when the Senate adjourn it be to meet Wednesday morning at 10:45,

Assembly Bill No. 2, entitled "An act for the appointment of agents to acquire a certain tract of land, situate in the county of Hudson, for the purpose of enlarging the grounds used for the soldiers' home at Kearny,"

And

Substitute for Assembly Bill No. 50, entitled "An act concerning the collection of personal taxes in cities of the first class in this state,' Were severally taken up, read a second time, considered by sections, agreed to, and ordered to have a third reading.

Assembly Bill No. 157, entitled "A supplement to an act entitled 'An act to provide for the purchase of sites for and the erection and equipment of armories in cities of the first and second class and making appropriations therefor, and to provide for the taking of real estate for such sites by commission in case the same cannot be purchased by agreement," approved March twenty-third, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-eight,

Was taken up on second reading, and action on same postponed temporarily.

Assembly Bill No. 169, entitled "An act providing for the pensioning of police officers and policemen in all cities, towns, townships, boroughs and villages in this state,"
