And, after some time,

Mr. Everett, from the above-named committee, reported that the committee had waited on the President of the United States, and made to him the communication directed in the order for their appointment, and received for answer from the President that he had no further communication to make to Congress at the present session.

On motion,

Ordered, That a message be sent to the Senate to notify that body that the House of Representatives is ready to close the present session by adjournment.

The Clerk having delivered the said message, and being returned,

The Speaker, on motion, and the question being put and carried, adjourned the House until the first Monday, being the 6th day, of December, 1841, being the day appointed by the Constitution of the United States for the annual meeting of Congress.
