The Assembly returned the bill (No. 640) entitled "An act to amend chapter 53 of the Laws of 1893, entitled 'An act further to amend chapter 278 of the Laws of 1881, entitled An act authorizing such women and girls as are vagrants, or convicted of misdemeanors as a first offense, to be sent to the Shelter for Homeless Women in the city of Syracuse, and to change the name of such corporation '" (Int. No. 583), with a message that they have concurred in the passage of the same.

Ordered, that the Clerk deliver said bill to the Governor.

The Assembly returned the Senate bill (No. 225, Assembly reprinNo. 1952) entitled "An act to amend chapter 599 of the Laws of 1898, entitled 'An act to incorporate the Security Assurance Company,' relative to the capital stock of, and reports by said corporation, and subjecting said corporation to the inspection, examination and control of the Banking Department" (Int. No. 221), with a message that they have passed the same with the following amend

ments:

The bill (No. 622) entitled "An act to authorize the city of Syra cuse to borrow money by the issue of bonds, to provide for their redemption, and to provide for the acquiring of title to the necessary land for a site for and the erection of a new high school building in said city" (Int. No. 569), was returned by the mayor of the city of Syracuse, with a certificate that a public hearing had been duly held on said bill in pursuance of law, and that the mayor and local legislative body had duly accepted the same.

Ordered, That the Clerk deliver said bill to the Governor.

Mr. Marshall, from the committee on printed and engrossed bills, reported as correctly printed the bills entitled as follows:

Pursuant to concurrent resolution of the Senate and Assembly, herewith is returned for amendment Senate bill No. 350, entitled "An act to amend section 79 of chapter 751 of the Laws of 1895, entitled 'An act to revise and consolidate the several acts in relation to the city of Hudson; to revise the charter of said city and to establish a city court therein and define its jurisdiction and powers. Mr. Ambler moved that said bill be recommitted to the committee on affairs of cities, with instructions to said committee to report the same forthwith amended as follows:

Page 3, strike out all of lines 3 to 15 inclusive and insert in lieu thereof the following: "Ninth. On the first day of January, nineteen hundred and one, the city treasurer shall open an account to be known as the fiscal year adjustment account' to which account he shall charge the following sums for the following purposes, to wit: The sum of twelve thousand two hundred and fifty dollars for the purpose of paying bonds of said city which fall due between the first day of January, nineteen hundred and one, and the first day of May, nineteen hundred and one; the sum of five thousand five hundred sixty-five dollars for the purpose of paying the interest which falls due between the first day of January, nineteen hundren and one, and the first day of May, nineteen hundred and one, on bonds of said city; the sum of two thousand three hundred dollars for the purpose of paying the salaries of city officials falling due between the first day of January, nineteen hundred and one, and the first day of May, nineteen hundred and one; the sum of six thousand dollars for the uses and purposes of the commission of public works between the first day of January, nineteen hundred and one, and the first day of May, nineteen hundred and one; the sum of four thousand eight hundred dollars for the uses and purposes of the board of education between the first day of January, nineteen hundred and one, and the first day of May, nineteen hundred and one; the sum of two thousand dollars for the uses and purposes of the police commission between the first day of January, nineteen hundred and one, and the first day of May, nineteen hundred and one; the sum of five hundred dollars for the uses and purposes of the cemetery commission between the first day of January, nineteen hundred and one, and the first day of May, nineteen hundred and one; the sum. of one thousand dollars for the uses and purposes of the commission of public charities between the first day of January, nineteen hundred and one, and the first day of May nineteen hundred and one, and the sum of six thousand six hundred sixty-six dollars and sixty-six cents for lighting the streets, public places and public

buildings of the city, providing necessary apparatus and means for the prevention and extinguishment of fires, defraying the contingent expenses of the city, the expense of public improvements proper to be done by the city, and all miscellaneous expenses of the city, its boards or commission, between the first day of January, nineteen and one, and the first day of May, nineteen hundred and one, for which no provision is at present made by law. The common council is authorized and directed to raise by tax upon the property in the city annually, for a term of twenty years, beginning with the fiscal year beginning on the first day of May, nineteen hundred and one, and ending with the fiscal year ending on the thirtieth day of April, nineteen hundred and twenty-one, the sum of one thousand seven hundred and ninety-four dollars and thirty-eight cents, the same to be levied and collected in the same manner and at the same time that other taxes are levied and collected, and to be annually appropriated by the common council, and by the city treasurer placed to the credit of said fiscal year adjustment account, there to remain until the expiration of said twenty years for the purpose of paying and cancelling said aforementioned charges to said fiscal year adjustment account.

§ 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said motion, and it was was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Stranahan, from the committee on affairs of cities, reported said bill amended as directed, and the same ordered printed and placed on the order of third reading.

Mr. Brown, from the committee on forest, fish and game laws, to which was referred the Assembly bill introduced by Mr. Pickett, Rec. No. 462, entitled "An act to amend the Fisheries, Game and Forest Law, in relation to powers and duties of protectors and foresters " (No. 1606), reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Brown, from the committee on forest, fish and game laws, to which was referred the Assembly bill introduced by Mr. Meyer, Rec. No. 517, entitled "An act to amend the Fisheries, Game and Forest Law and the acts amendatory thereof, in relation to salt water striped bass" (No. 1891), reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.
