PLANTATION BITTERS.-S. T. 1860-X.

This wonderful vegetable restorative is the sheet-anchor of the feeble and debilitated. As a tonic and cordial for the aged and languid it has no equal among stomachics. As a remedy for the nervous weakness to which women are especially subject, it is superseding every other stimulant. In all climates, tropical, temperate or frigid, it acts as a specific in every species of disorder which undermines the bodily strength and breaks down the animal spirits.

It is now about twelve years since this grand desideratum was introduced under the name of BITTERS,

PLANTATION

and from that time to the present its progress has been without a parallel in the history of proprietary medicines. With the spirit of the sugar cane-the most nutritious of all stimulants-for its basis, and medicated solely with the juices and extracts of rare vegetable specifics, such a Calisaya Bark, the best known Tonic that the world produces, and which makes it by all odds the most unobjectionable invigorant, corrective and general alterative that has ever been placed by science within the reach of the sick, the suffering, and the despondent. Hence it has overleaped all competition, and Plantation Bitters is to-day the most popular Tonic on either side of the Atlantic. Sold by all Druggists.

MEXICAN MUSTANG LINIMENT.

FOR MAN AND BEAST.

Probably few articles have ever had so extensive a sale, while none have been more universally beneficial than the celebrated MEXICAN MUSTANG LINIMENT. Children, Adults, Horses and Domestic Animals, are always liable to accident, and it is safe to say, that no family can pass a single season without some kind of emollient being necessary. It becomes a matter of importance then to secure the best.

The merits of the MEXICAN MUSTANG LINIMENT are well known throughout the habitable world. From the million upon million of bottles sold, no complaint has ever reached us. It is recommended for Cuts, Bruises, Sprains, Rheumatism, Swellings, Bites, Chilblains, &c., upon man, and for Spavins, Founders, Ring-bone, Poll Evil, Scratches, Wind-Galls, Hoofale, &c., upon horses.

Important to Owners of Horses.

"This is to certify, that the Mexican Mustang Iiniment has been extensively used in our stables throughout the country (we have 2,500 horses) with the greatest benefit in all cases of galls, kicks, sprains, lameness, stiffness, etc. Many of our men have had occasion to use it in their families, and all speak of it in the highest terms. One of our men got kicked and badly cut and bruised; as usual, the Mustang Liniment was resorted to; the lameness was removed, and he was almost well in four days. We can cheerfully recommend it as a valuable preparation for man or beast.

Yours respectfully, J. DUNNING, Foreman of Adams & Co.'s Express Stables, N. Y.” "We take great pleasure in recommending the Mexican Mustang Liniment as an indispensable and valuable article, and the best we have ever used for Sprains, Sores or Galls on horses. Some of our men have also used it for severe burns and sores, as well as rheumatic pains, and all say it acts like magic. J. H. HEWITT, Foreman, For American Express Co., 10 Wall Street; Harnden's Express Co., 74 Broadway; Pullen, Virgil & Co., Express Co., 14 Wall St.; Wells, Fargo & Co., 14 Wall Street."

Over three hundred livery stables in the city of New York alone are using the MEXICAN MUSTANG LINIMENT, in all of which it gives unusual satisfaction.

CAUTION.

Some unprincipled parties have undertaken to counterfeit this Liniment. The genuine is wrapped in a fine Steel Plate engraving, with "G. W. Westbrook, Chemist," and "Trade Mark, MEXICAN MUSTANG LINIMENT," engraved across the face of each wrapper. The whole bears the proprietor's private United States Revenue Stamp, and not a common stamp, as used by druggists. LYON MANUFACTURING CO., 53 Park Place, N. Y.

THE PRESS.

THE METHODIST comes to us this week enlarged in size and generally improved in appearance. There are few journals which we receive with so much pleasure as this able and courteous organ of Methodist opinion. The thoroughly competent administration of Dr. Crooks has been recently reenforced by the pen of Dr. Abel Stevens, whose capacities as a writer have been familiar aforetime to the readers of these columns. We tender to the METHODIST new welcome and a fresh God-speed. -Chr. Union.

THE METHODIST.-The last number of this independent organ of American Methodism appears much enlarged and improved. It is edited with great ability by Drs. G. R. Crooks and Abel Stevens, and has a corps of accomplished contributors. The sermons of Dr. Talmage, of Brooklyn, are published in its columns, and we regard it by far the ablest and most interesting journal of the Methodist church.-Lutheran Observer.

THE METHODIST, according to previous announcement, appeared, July 1st, in its greatly enlarged and--but for the almost interminable report of the Book Concern investigation-improved form. The next number, we expect, will contain its promised variety of literary and religious information. This paper has always commanded our admiration for its ability, liberality, and unbending adherence to the true lights and landmarks of Methodism, and a degree of enterprise which has placed it ahead of any denominational journal we have seen in any part of the world. Claiming to be as loyal a Methodist as the next man, we heartily wish this paper the greatest success in its new era of existence, and widening sphere of usefulness.-Meth. Home Journal.

THE METHODIST, a paper which has reached a national, rather than a local circulation, celebrates the commencement of its twelfth year by donning a new typographical dress, and by an enlargement of eight columns. The paper; although started independently of conference management, and meeting with some distrust and opposition on that account, has been very successful, and has become influential.-Detroit Post.

"THE METHODIST," published in New York, and edited with distinguished ability, came to us last week much enlarged and beautified with new and bright-faced type. It now takes precedence in size of any Methodist journal in the denomination, and no paper makes a show of more genius in adapting their columns to popular and family reading. The style of the paper is pleasing to us. It is also highly honorable to the Methodist independent press of the country, which soon must take leading influence in the church.-Buffalo Advocate. Many other similar notices might be added did space permit.
