The bar (Coquille River).-In June 1937, a survey of the entrance shows a controlling depth of 12 feet (3.7 m) in a channel 200 feet wide. A depth of 11 feet (3.4 m) was available between the jetties to Bandon.

Bandon. This city was destroyed by a forest fire in 1936.

Coos Bay. In September 1937, a survey of the entrance shows a controlling depth of 25 feet (7.6 m) on the bar and between the jetties to Guano Rock. Between the entrance and the head of the bay at Marshfield, the controlling depth was 22 feet (6.7 m) for a width of 250 feet (1937).

A rock with 24 feet (7.3 m) over it is located about 30 yards north of the Coos Bay entrance range and about 170 yards 0° true from Guano Rock. Sections of both jetties at the entrance to Coos Bay have subsided so that the flow of water is not restricted and this may result in changes in depth in the channel between the jetties.

In 1936, a shoal of 16 feet (4.8 m) was reported on Jarvis Upper Range about 1,160 yards west of the draw in the Southern Pacific Railroad Bridge.

Line 8 (swinging drawbridge).-The north draw of the railroad bridge westward of North Point, Coos Bay, was dredged in 1935. Paragraph 2.-A highway bridge is under construction between North Point and Russel Point.

Guano Rock.-Line 4, for "buoy", "28", "8.5" and "200" read "lighted buoy", "25", "7.6" and "150."

Paragraph 4 (Uumpqua River).-In September 1937, a survey shows an entrance bar depth, on the range, of 13 feet (4.0 m). A limiting depth of 10 feet for a width of 400 feet existed between the entrance and Reedsport (June 1937).

The Umpqua River entrance south jetty has been extended and is completed to a point 1,770 yards, 284° true from Umpqua River Lighthouse. (1937).

Strike out last paragraph referring to a rocky reef. The shore now extends 250 yards beyond the former reef.

Ork Reef.-The east side of the channel near Ork Reef is marked by a lighted buoy.

The bar (Siuslaw River entrance).-In June 1936, the controlling depth on the entrance range was 11 feet (3.3 m).

Yaquina Bay.—The entrance.-In August 1937, the controlling depth on the entrance range over the shoal outside the outer ends of the jetties was 11 feet (3.3 m) at mean lower low water and the

center of the channel between the jetties was 250 feet south of the range and had a controlling depth of 19 feet (5.8).

There is a fixed bridge across Yaquina Bay entrance just inside the jetties. The overhead clearance is 130 feet (40 m) at high water.

PAGE 190*

Line 1, strike out the two sentences referring to the channel south of the south jetty. Line 22, the controlling depth in the bay channel to Yaquina city was 17 feet (5.2 m) and to Toledo, 81⁄2 feet (2.5 m) in June 1937.

The entrance (Tillamook Bay).-In July 1936, a survey of the entrance to and including Garibaldi shows a controlling bar depth of 19 feet (5.8 m) for a width of 400 feet. East of the outer end of the jetty a channel 200 feet wide shows a controlling depth of 9 feet (2.7 m) to Miami Cove, 81⁄2 feet (2.6 m) from Miami Cove to Hammond Mill Dock and a controlling depth of 9 feet (2.7 m) to Hobsonville. From Hobsonville to Bay City Dock there was a controlling depth of 5 feet (1.5 m) (1935). There is probably 9 feet (2.7 m) at high tide to Tillamook.

Line 5 from bottom, for "lighted whistle" read "whistle."

Miami Cove.-See supplement to page 191.

PAGE 193

The entrance (Nehalem River).—A survey in July 1936, shows a least depth of 8 feet (2.4 m) over the entrance bar to Nehalem River. Line 5 from bottom, strike out "lighted range and."

Columbia River.-Logs which have gone adrift from rafts and log booms are a source of danger in the river, particularly to small craft. Logs floating in vertical position with one end just awash are extremely difficult to see in the muddy water of the river.

With the completion of Bonneville Project on the Columbia River, navigation locks will provide access to a 47-mile pool for ocean carriers. The head of ocean navigation will then be The Dalles, Ore., a city of 7,000 population located 200 miles from the Pacific Ocean.

Weather conditions in the vicinity of Columbia River Lightship, observed four times daily, are broadcast by Naval Radio Station (Astoria) NPE.

Baker Bay. The controlling depth in June 1937, was 10 feet (3 m) for a width of 200 feet, except in Holman Waterway at Ilwaco, where the depth was 5 feet (1.5 m).

Warrenton.-A survey of the Skipanon River channel made in November 1936, shows a least depth of 30 feet (9.1 m) for a width of 200 feet between the bulkheads and 29 feet (8.9 m) between the entrance and the main Columbia River channel. In June 1935, the
