12 And this shall be a fign | as it was told unto them. unto you: Ye fhall find the 21 ¶ And when eight days babe wrapped in fwaddling were accomplished for the clothes, lying in a manger. circumcifing of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was fo named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

13 And fuddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly hoft praifing God, and faying,

14 Glory to God in the higheft, and on earth peace, good-will toward men.

15 And it came to pafs, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the fhepherds faid one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and fee this hing which is come to pafs, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Mofes were accomplished, they brought him to Jerufalem, to prefent him to the Lord;

23 As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb fhall be called holy to the Lord;

40 And the child grew and waxed ftrong in fpirit, filled with wifdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

41 Now his parents went to Jerufalem every year at the feaft of the paffover.

42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerufalem; after the custom of the feaft.

43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jefus tarried behind in Jerufalem; and Jofeph and his mother knew not of it.

44 But they supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they fought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.

45 And when they found him not, they turned back. again to Jerufalem seeking him.

46 And it came to pafs, that after three days they found

found him in the temple, fitting in the midft of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

47 And all that heard him were aftonished at his underftanding and answers.

48 And when they faw him they were amazed. And his mother faid unto him, Son, why haft thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have fought thee forrowing. 49 And he faid unto them, How is it that ye fought me? wift ye not that I must be about my Father's bufinefs? 50 And they understood

Take nothing for your journey, neither ftaves, nor fcrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.

4 And whatfoever houfe ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.

5 And whofoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, fhake off the very duft from your feet for a teftimony against them.

6 And they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gofpel, and healing every where.

52 And Jefus increased in wildom and ftature, and in favour with God and man.

CHAP. IX.

HEN he called his twelve difciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure difeafes.

2 And he fent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the fick.

3 And he said unto them,

10 And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went afide privately into a defert place, belonging to the city called Bethfaida.

12 And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and faid unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals for we are here in a defert place.

13 But he faid unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they faid, We have no more but five loaves and two fifhes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people.

14 For they were about five thousand men. And he faid to his difciples, Make them fit down by fifties in a company. 15 And they did fo, and made them all fit down.

16 Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he bleffed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.

17 And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets. 18 And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his

difciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom fay the people that I am?

19 They answering faid, John the Baptift: but fome Jay, Elias; and others fay, that one of the old prophets is risen again.

20 He faid unto them, But whom fay ye that I am? Peter anfwering faid, The Chrift of God.

21 And he straitly charged them and commanded them to tell no man that thing;

22 Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priefts and scribes, and be flain, and be raised the third day.

23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

24 For whofoever will fave his life, fhall lose it: but whofoever will lose his life for my fake, the fame shall fave it.

25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lofe himself, or be caft away ?

26 For whofoever shall be afhamed of me, and of my words, of him fhall the Son of man be ashamed, when he fhall come in his own glory,

and

and in his Father's, and of fhadowed them and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

27 But I tell you of a truth, there be fome ftanding here which fhall not tafte of death till they see the kingdom of God.

35 And there came a voice out of the cloud, faying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

36 And when the voice was paft, Jefus was found alone. And they kept it clofe, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.
