II. From the Christian Dispensation we learn, that the inward
purpose of the outward act, so far as regards that Dispen-
sation, is atonement for sin, p. 12.
III. But, hitherto, we have only reached a presumption, that such
also was the inward purpose under the two preceding Dis-
