✓ CAPO 2. E ALQUANTI giorni appresso,

egli entrò di nuovo in Capernaum; e s' intese ch' egli erà in

casa.

2 E subito si raunò gran numero di gente, talchè non pure i contorni della porta li potevan più contenere; ed egli annunziava loro la parola.

3 Allora vennero a lui alcuni che menavano un paralitico, portato da quattro.

4 E, non potendosi accostare a lui, per la calca, scopersero il tetto della casa dove era Gesù; e, foratolo, calarono il letticello, in sul quale giaceva il paralitico.

5 E Gesù, veduta la lor fede, disse al paralitico: Figliuolo, i tuoi peccati ti son rimessi.

6 Or alcuni d' infra gli scribi sedevano quivi, e ragionavan ne' lor cuori, dicendo:

7 Perchè pronunzia costui bestemmie in questa maniera ? chi può rimettere i peccati, se non il solo Dio?

8 E Gesù, avendo subito conosciuto, per lo suo Spirito, che ragionavan così fra sè stessi, disse loro: Perchè ragionate voi coteste cose ne' vostri cuori ?

9 Quale è più agevole, dire al paralitico: I tuoi peccati ti son rimessi; ovver dire: Levati, togli il tuo letticello, e cammina?

10 Ora, acciocchè voi sappiate che il Figliuol dell' uomo ha podestà di rimettere i peccati in terra;

11 Io ti dico (disse egli al paralitico): Levati, togli il tuo letticello, e vattene a casa tua.

12 Ed egli prestamente si levò; e, caricatosi addosso il suo letticello, uscì in presenza di tutti; talchè tutti stupivano, e glorificavano Iddio, dicendo: Giammai non vedemmo cotal cosa.

13 Poi appresso Gesù uscì di nuovo lungo il mare; e tutta la moltitudine veniva a lui, ed egli gli ammaestrava.

CHAPTER 2.

ND again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them. 3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.

5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.

6 But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,

7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?

8 And immediately, when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)

11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.

12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

13 And he went forth again by the sea side; and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.

14 E, passando, vide Levi, il figliuol di Alfeo, che sedeva al banco della gabella. Ed egli gli disse: Seguitami. Ed egli, levatosi, lo seguitò.

15 E avvenne che, mentre Gesù era a tavola in casa d' esso, molti pubblicani e peccatori erano anch'essi a tavola con lui, e co' suoi discepoli; perciocchè eran molti, e l' avean seguitato.

16 E gli scribi ed i Farisei, vedutolo mangiar co' pubblicani e co' peccatori, dissero a' suoi discepoli: Che vuol dir ch' egli mangia e bee co' pubblicani e co' peccatori ?

17 E Gesù, udito ciò, disse loro: I sani non han bisogno di medico, ma i malati; io non son venuto per chiamare i giusti, anzi i peccatori, a penitenza.

18 Or i discepoli di Giovanni, e que' de' Farisei, digiunavano. E quelli vennero a Gesù, e gli dissero: Perchè digiunano i discepoli di Giovanni, e que' de' Farisei, e i tuoi discepoli non digiunano?

19 E Gesù disse loro: Que' della camera delle nozze posson eglino digiunare, mentre lo sposo è con loro? quanto tempo han seco lo sposo non possono digiunare.

20 Ma verranno i giorni, che lo sposo sarà loro tolto, e allora in que' giorni digiuneranno.

21 Niuno eziandio cuce una giunta di panno rozzo sopra un vestimento vecchio; altrimenti, quel suo nuovo ripieno toglie del vecchio, e la rottura si fa peggiore.

22 Parimente, niun mette vino nuovo in barili vecchi; altrimenti, il vin nuovo rompe i barili, e il vino si spande, e i barili si perdono; anzi conviensi mettere il vino nuovo in barili nuovi.

23 E avvenne, in un giorno di sabato, ch' egli camminava per li seminati, e i suoi discepoli presero a svellere delle spighe, camminando.

24 Ei Farisei gli dissero: Vedi,

14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alpheus sitting at the receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.

15 And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples; for there were many, and they followed him.

16 And when the scribes and Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and drinketh with publicans and sinners?

17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

18 And the disciples of John and of the Pharisees used to fast: and they come and say unto him, Why do the disciples of John and of the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?

19 And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them? as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they

cannot fast.

20 But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

21 No man also seweth a piece of new cloth on an old garment; else the new piece that filled it up taketh away from the old, and the rent is made worse.

22 And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine doth burst the bottles, and the wine is spilled, and the bottles will be marred but new wine must be put into new bottles.

23 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the

ears of corn.

24 And the Pharisees said unto

25 Ed egli disse loro: Non avete voi mai letto ciò che fece Davide, quando ebbe bisogno, ed ebbe fame, egli, e coloro ch' eran con lui?

26 Come egli entrò nella casa di Dio, sotto il sommo sacerdote Abiatar, e mangiò i pani di presentazione, i quali non è lecito di mangiare, se non a' sacerdoti, e ne diede ancora a coloro ch' eran con lui ? 27 Poi disse loro: Il sabato è fatto per l'uomo, e non l' uomo per il sabato ;

25 And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was a hungered, he, and they that were with him?

26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?

2 Ed essi l' osservano, se lo sanerebbe in giorno di sabato, acciocchè l' accusassero.

3 Ed egli disse all' uomo che avea la man secca: Levati là nel mezzo.

4 Poi disse loro: È egli lecito di far bene o male; di salvare una persona, o di ucciderla, in giorno di sabato? Ma essi tacevano.

5 Allora, avendoli guardati attorno con indegnazione, contristato per l' induramento del cuor loro, disse a quell' uomo: Distendi la tua mano. Ed egli la distese. E la sua mano fu restituita sana come l' altra.

6 Ei Farisei, essendo usciti, tenner subito consiglio con gli Erodiani contro a lui, come lo farebber morire.

7 Ma Gesù, co' suoi discepoli, si ritrasse al mare, e gran moltitudine lo seguitò, da Giudea,

8 E da Gerusalemme, e da Idumea, e di là dal Giordano; parimente, una gran moltitudine da' contorni di Tiro, e di Sidon, avendo udite le gran cose ch' egli faceva,

venne a lui.

27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

ND he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered hand.

2 And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him. 3 And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.

4 And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace. 5 And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

6 And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.

7 But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judea,

8 And from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did,

came unto him.

9 Ed egli disse a' suoi discepoli, che vi fosse sempre una navicella appresso di lui, per la moltitudine; che talora non l' affollasse.

10 Perciocchè egli ne avea guariti molti; talchè tutti coloro che aveano qualche flagello si avventavano a lui, per toccarlo.

11 E gli spiriti immondi, quando lo vedevano, si gettavano davanti a lui, e gridavano, dicendo: Tu sei il Figliuol di Dio.

12 Ma egli gli sgridava forte, acciocchè nol manifestassero.

13 Poi egli montò in sul monte, e chiamò a sè coloro ch' egli volle; ed essi andarono a lui.

14 Ed egli ne ordinò dodici, per esser con lui, e per mandarli a predicare;

15 E per aver la podestà di sanare le infermità, e di cacciare i demoni. 16 Il primo fu Simone, al quale ancora pose nome Pietro;

17 Poi Giacomo figliuol di Zebedeo; e Giovanni, fratello di Giacomo, a' quali pose nome, Boanerges, che vuol dire: Figliuoli di tuono;

18 E Andrea, e Filippo, e Bartolomeo, e Matteo, e Toma, e Giacomo, figliuol di Alfeo; e Taddeo, e Simone Cananeo;

19 E Giuda Iscariot, il quale anche lo tradì.

20 Poi vennero in casa. E una moltitudine si raunò di nuovo; talchè non potevano pur prender cibo.

21 Or i suoi, udite queste cose, uscirono per pigliarlo, perciocchè dicevano: Egli è fuori di sè.

22 Ma gli scribi, ch' eran discesi di Gerusalemme, dicevano: Egli ha Beelzebub; e, per lo principe de' demoni, caccia i demoni.

23 Ma egli, chiamatili a sè, disse loro in similitudine: Come può Satana cacciar Satana?

24 E, se un regno è diviso in parti contrarie, egli non può durare.

9 And he spake to his disciples, that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him.

10 For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues.

11 And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.

12 And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known.

13 And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would and they came unto him. 14 And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,

15 And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils: 16 And Simon he surnamed Peter;

17 And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:

18 And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alpheus, and Thaddeus, and Simon the Canaanite,

19 And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him and they went into a house.

20 And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.

21 And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him for they said, He is beside himself.

22 And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils.

23 And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?

24 And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.

25 E, se una casa è divisa in parti contrarie, ella non può durare.

26 Così, se Satana si leva contro a sè stesso, ed è diviso in parti contrarie, egli non può durare, anzi vien meno.

27 Niuno può entrar nella casa d' un uomo possente, e rapirgli le sue masserizie, se prima non l' ha legato; allora veramente gli prederà la casa.

28 Io vi dico in verità, che a' figliuoli degli uomini sarà rimesso qualunque peccato, e qualunque bestemmia avranno detta;

29 Ma, chiunque avrà bestemmiato contro allo Spirito Santo, giammai in eterno non ne avrà remissione; anzi sarà sottoposto ad eterno giudicio.

30 Or egli diceva questo, perciocchè dicevano: Egli ha lo spirito immondo.

31 I suoi fratelli adunque, e sua madre, vennero; e, fermatisi di fuori, mandarono a chiamarlo.

32 Or la moltitudine sedeva d' intorno a lui, e gli disse: Ecco, tua madre, e i tuoi fratelli son là di fuori, e ti cercano.

33 Ma egli rispose loro, dicendo: Chi è mia madre, o chi son i miei fratelli ?

34 E, guardati in giro coloro che gli sedevano d' intorno, disse: Ecco mia madre, e i miei fratelli ;

35 Perciocchè, chiunque avrà fatta la volontà di Dio, esso è mio fratello, e mia sorella, e mia madre.

gnare, presso al mare; e una gran moltitudine si raunò presso a lui, talchè egli, montato nella navicella, sedeva in essa sul mare; e tutta la moltitudine era in terra, presso del mare.

2 Ed egli insegnava loro molte cose in parabole, e diceva loro nella sua dottrina:

3 Udite: Ecco, un seminatore uscì a seminare.

4 E avvenne che, mentre egli se

26 And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.

27 No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.

28 Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: 29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation :

30 Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

31 There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.

32 And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.

33 And he answered them, saying, Who is my mother, or my brethren?

34 And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

35 For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother. V CHAPTER 4. AND he

began again to teach by

sea side: and there was gathered unto him a great multitude, so that he entered into a ship, and sat in the sea; and the whole multitude was by the sea on the land.

2 And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,

3 Hearken; Behold, there went out a sower to sow:

4 And it came to pass, as he
