We, the members of the Warr Post No. 17, Department of Iowa, G.A.R., respectfully state that we heartily endorse and sanction the efforts of comrade Hughes of Williamsburg, Iowa, and E. J. C. Bealer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in introducing in the Iowa Senate and House a bill to appropriate money jointly with the city of Davenport to provide a State park and patriotic memorial out of the historic Camp McClellan. We think the camp should be preserved where so many of the Iowa boys donned the blue uniform for the first time and prepared to defend the Union.
