By Precepts he has us enjoin'd,
To keep his wondrous Works in Mind;
And to Pofterity record,

That good and gracious is our Lord.
5 Jult are the Dealings of his lands,
Immutable are his Commands;
By Truth and Equity fuitam'd,
And for eternal Kules ordain'd.
6 He let his Saints from Bondage free,
And then establish'd his Decree,
For ever to remain the fame;
Holy and rev'rend is his Name.

Who Wisdom's facred Prize would win,
Muft with the Fear of God begin:

Immortal Praife, and heav'nly Skill
Have they who know and do his Will.

PSALM CXII.

I THAT Man is bleft who ftands in Awe
Of God, and loves his facred Law:
His Seed on Earth fhall be renown'd,
And with fucceffive Honours crown'd!
2 His House the Seat of Wealth fhall be,
An inexaufted Treasury;

His Juftice, free from all Decay,
Shall Bleffings to his Heirs convey.
3 The Soul that's fill'd with Virtue's Light,
Shines brighteft in Affliction's Night:
To pity the Diftrefs'd inclin'd,

As well as juft to all Mankind.
His lib'ral Favours he extends,

To fome he gives, to others lends :

Yet

Yet what his Charity impairs,
He faves by Prudence in Affairs.
5 Befet with threatning Dangers round,
Unmov'd fhall he maintain his Ground
The sweet Rememb'rance of the Just
Shall flourish when he fleeps in Dust.

E Saints and Servants of the Lord, The Triumphs of his Name record; His facred Name for ever blefs: Where'er the circling Sun difplays His rifing Beams, or fetting Rays, Due Praife to his great Name addrefs. 2 God thro' the World extends his Sway; The Regions of eternal Day

But Shadows of his Glory are.
To him, whose Majefty excels,

Who made the Heav'n in which he dwells,
Let no created Pow'r compare.

Tho' 'tis beneath his State to view

In higheft Heav'n that Angels do,

Yet he to Earth vouchfafes his Care :
He takes the Needy from his Cell,
Advancing him in Courts to dwell,
Companion to the Greatest there.
4 When childlefs Families defpair,
He fends the Bleffing of an Heir,

To refcue their expiring Name:
Makes her that barren was, to bear,
And joyfully her Fruit to rear;

O then extol his matchlefs Fame!

PSALM

PSALM CXVII.

WITH cheerful Notes let all the Earth

to Heav'n their Voices raife;

Let ali, infpir'd with godly Mirth, fing folemn Hymns of Praise. 2 God's tender Mercy knows no Bound, his Truth fhall ne'er decay: Then let the willing Nations round, their grateful Tribute pay.

PSALM CXVIII.

Praise the Lord, for he is good,
his Mercies ne'er decay;

That his kind Favours ever laft,
let thankful Ifr'el fay.

2 Then open wide the Temple Gates
to which the Juft repair,
That I may enter in and praise
my great Deliv❜rer there.

3 Within thofe Gates of God's Abode
to which the Righteous prefs;

Since thou hast heard, and fet me fafe, thy holy Name I'll bless.

4 That which the Builders once refus'd, is now the Corner-Stone;

This is the wond'rous Work of God, the Work of God alone.

5 This Day is God's; let all the Land exalt their cheerful Voice:

Lord, we beseech thee, fave us now, and make us ftill rejoice,

PSALM

PSALM CXIX.

1 HOW bleft are they who always keep the pure and perfect Way!

Who never from the facred Paths

of God's Commandments ftray! 2 Thrice bleft who to his righteous Laws have still obedient been!

And have with fervent humble Zeal
his Favour fought to win!

Such Men their utmost Caution use
to fhun each wicked Deed;
But in the Path which he directs
with conftant Care proceed.
4 Thou strictly haft enjoin'd us, Lord,
to learn thy facred Will;

And all our Diligence employ
thy Statutes to fulfil.

5 O then that thy moft holy Will
might o'er my Ways prefide!
And I the Courfe of all my Life
by thy Direction guide!

6 Then with Affurance fhould I walk, from all Confufion free;

Convinc'd, with Joy, that all my Ways with thy Commands agree.

PSALM CXIX. P. 2.

1 INSTRUCT me in thy Statutes, Lord, thy righteous Paths difplay;

And I from them thro' all my Life,
will never go aftray.

2 If thou true Wisdom from above
wilt graciously impart;
To keep thy perfect Laws I will
devote my zealous Heart.
3 Direct me in the facred Ways
to which thy Precepts lead;
Because my chief Delight has been
thy righteous Paths to tread.

4 Do thou to thy moft juft Commands
incline my willing Heart;
Let no Defire of worldly Wealth
from thee my Thoughts divert.
PSALM CXIX. P. 3.
THE Love that to thy Laws I bear,
no Language can display;

They with freth Wonders entertain my ravish'd Thoughts all Day. 2 Through thy Commands I wifer grow than all my fubtle Foes;

For thy fure Word does me direct, and all my Ways difpofe.

3 From me my

former Teachers now

may abler Counsel take; Because thy facred Precepts I my conftant Study make. 4 In Understanding I excel the Sages of our Days; Because by thy unerring Rules I order all my Ways.

5 My Feet with Care I have refrain'd from ev'ry finful Way,
