Mr. Hamill moved that said bill be recommitted to the committee on ways and means, with instructions to report the same forthwith amended as follows:

Page 2, line 3, make a period after the word employees; strike out "[provided however that in the appointment of employees aforesaid preference shall be given to]".

On line 10, page 2, make a comma after the word "York," and add in italics "shall be appointed to such positions".

Mr. Speaker put the question whether the House would agree to said motion, and it was determined in the negative.

No. 452) entitled "An act to amend the Military Law, in relation to compensation of State and municipal officers and employees returning from military or naval duty," was read the third time, having been printed and upon the desks of the members in its final form at least three calendar legislative days prior to its final passage.
