SUPERVISORS SUPPORT BILL TO END INDIAN LAND CLAIMS RESOLUTION NO. 47, moved by Mr. Zajac, seconded by Mr. Sessler and adopted. WHEREAS, it has been the intent of the Seneca County Board of Supervisors to actively work to protect all landowners in the Indian Land Claim areas within our County, and WHEREAS, securing the services of Hale & Dorr to represent all the people of Seneca County clearly shows the intent of the Board to secure experienced and professional representation, and WHEREAS, throughout the duration of this massive problem this Board has urged the Congress and the Senate to pass a ratification bill that would alleviate property title problems, and WHEREAS, a bill known as the Ancient Indian Land Claims Settlement Act of 1982, HR 5494 and S2084, is currently being introduced in both houses by Congressman Gary Lee and Senator Alphonse D'Amato, therefore be it RESOLVED, that the Seneca County Board of Supervisors goes on record as strongly supporting the passage of this bill to ensure for once and for all an end to filing of such claims in New York State.
