To be honest, the author knows nothing about islam. as some people, his knowledge of Islam is limited to the headlines of daily newspaper and TV shows.
If a system based on peace and security, like islam, becomes associated with terrorism, this only shows that the people making the associations know nothing of the spirit of Islam and are unable to grasp it in their own souls. Please move beyond prejudice, suspicion, and half-truths in order to arrive at an understanding what Islam is really about. I believe that all people should be interested in learning true Islam, not the sensationalist trash shown and talked about in the media because Islam is a religion of love and tolerance, and Muslims are the devotees of love and affection, people who shun all acts of terrorism and who have purged their bodies of all manner hate and hostility.
Islam has, from the very beginning, demanded that non-Muslims be well-treated in the lands where Muslims rule – whether these people were of the region and citizens of the conquered state or whether they were people who settled there later—in particular Christians and Jews, as they are considered to be People of the Book because these monotheistic religions have many beliefs in common. If jihad had forced non-Muslims to convert to Islam, non-Muslims would not live in Islamic countries today. There are numerous historical examples of equitable treatment of Jews and Christians living within the borders of Islamic countries. In Andalusia, Muslims produced a society of tolerance and understanding of all religions until King Ferdinand issued the edict of expulsion and ordered conversion of all Jews and Muslims to Christianity in 1492.The Spanish Jews, who had lived in Spain for more than seven centuries were thrown out. Some of these refugees found homes in some coun¬tries like the Netherlands, France, and Italy. But by far the largest group prefer¬red an Isla¬mic country, the Ottoman Empire as a refuge. The reason was that they had lived for years under Isla¬mic rule in Grena¬da and Andalusia where they were treated as citizens. The Ottoman Empire invited them to live within its territory where they enjoyed both citizenship and freedom of religion.
