spirit, with all their powers and faculties. Fill [my memory] our memories with the words of thy law; enlighten [my understanding] our understandings with the illumination of the Holy Ghost; and may all the wishes and desires of [my will] our wills centre in what thou hast commanded. And to make [me] us instrumental in promoting the salvation of the [people now] children committed to [my] our charge, grant that [I may faithfully administer thy holy Sacraments, and by my life and doctrines] we may by our lives and doctrines set forth thy true and lively word. Be ever with [me] us in the performance of all the duties of [my ministry;] our office; in prayer to quicken [my] our devotion; in praises, to heighten [my] our love and gratitude; and in [preaching,] teaching, to give a readiness of thought and expression suitable to the clearness and excellency of thy holy Word. Grant this for the sake of Jesus Christ thy Son our Saviour. Amen.

GOD, who by the leading of a star didst manifest thy only begotten Son to the Gentiles; mercifully grant that we, who know thee now by faith, may after this life have the fruition of thy glorious Godhead, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ALMIGHTY God, with whom do

live the spirits of those who depart hence in the Lord, and with whom the souls of the faithful, after they are delivered from the burden of the flesh, are in joy and felicity; we give thee hearty thanks for the good examples of all those thy servants, who, having finished their course in faith, do now rest from their labours. And we beseech thee, that we, with all those who are departed in the true faith of thy holy name, may have our perfect consummation and bliss both in body and soul,

in thy eternal and everlasting glory, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

GOD, whose blessed Son was manifested that he might destroy the works of the devil, and make us the sons of God, and heirs of eternal life; grant us, we beseech thee, that having this hope, we may purify ourselves, even as he is pure; that when he shall appear again with power and great glory, we may be made like unto him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where, with thee, O Father, and thee, O Holy Ghost, he liveth and reigneth, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

GOD, the king of glory, who hast exalted thine only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph unto thy kingdom in heaven; we beseech thee leave us not comfortless; but send to us thine Holy Ghost to comfort us, and exalt us unto the same place whither our Saviour Christ is gone before; who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.

MERCIFUL God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who is the resurrection and the life; in whom whosoever believeth, shall live, though he die; and whosoever liveth and believeth in him, shall not die eternally; who also hath taught us, by his holy Apostle St. Paul, not to be sorry, as men without hope, for those who sleep in him; we humbly beseech thee, Father, to raise us from the death of sin unto the life of righteousness; that when we shall depart this life, we may rest in him; and that at the general resurrection in the last day, we may be found acceptable in thy sight; and receive that blessing, which thy wellbeloved Son shall then pronounce to all who love and fear thee, saying, Come, ye blessed children of my Father, receive the kingdom prepared for you from the beginning of the world: Grant this, we beseech thee, O merciful Father, through Jesus Christ, our Mediator and Redeemer. Amen.

REGARD, O Lord, the supplications

of thy servants, and grant that

whosoever shall be dedicated to thee in [this] thy house by Baptism, may be sanctified by the Holy Ghost, delivered from thy wrath and eternal death, and received as a living member of Christ's Church; and may ever remain in the number of thy faithful children. Amen.

Grant, O Lord, that they who, [at this place shall] do in their own persons renew the promises and vows which they made, or which were made for them by their sureties at their Baptism, and thereupon [shall be] are confirmed by the Bishop, may receive such a measure of thy Holy Spirit, that they may be enabled faithfully to fulfil the same, and grow in grace until their lives' end. Amen.
