It is recommended that her name be placed on the pension roll at the rate of $20 per month, and that the rate be increased to $30 per month from and after the date she shall have attained the age of 60 years, which fact shall be determined by the submission of satisfactory evidence by the beneficiary to the Veterans' Administration.

H. R. 3048. Malisa Maze, aged 86 years, whose post-office address is Federal Soldiers' Home, St. James, Mo., is the widow of William Maze, late a private in Lieutenant Dietrich's Company, Cooper County Provisional Enrolled Missouri Militia, from August 24 to December 28, 1864, who was a pensioner under certificate No. 1486588 (now XC2656709) at the rate of $50 per month, by special act of Congress approved May 3, 1928, and who died February 21, 1933.

Applicant and the late soldier were married January 26, 1901, and the evidence filed in support of this bill indicates she is his legal widow. She has not title to pension as such under existing laws for the reason the organization in which the service was rendered was organized for State purposes only. The soldier did, however, serve more than 80 days; the service was honorable in every way and the soldier received an honorable discharge. The organization to which he belonged became an integral part of and cooperated with the Federal forces, and the State was reimbursed for his services by the United States.

Your committee has heretofore given favorable consideration to claims of this character, and, under the circumstances, does not hesitate to give this applicant a pensionable status.

The medical evidence presented indicates she is wholly unable to contribute to her own support, and requires the aid and attendance of another person by reason of general debility and the infirmities of advanced age.

She has no property of any kind, no means, and no income. She is now an inmate of a State home. No one is legally bound to her support.

It is recommended that her name be placed on the pension roll at the rate of $30 per month.

H. R. 3052. Ella Strutton, aged 52 years, whose post-office address is Crocker, Mo., is the helpless and dependent daughter of Elisha S. Strutton, late a sergeant, Company M, Third Regiment Missouri Cavalry, and Company C, Eleventh Regiment Missouri Cavalry, from June 22, to December 20, 1861, and from October 2, 1862, to July 27, 1865, who was a pensioner under certificate No. 477760 at the rate of $50 per month and who died July 26, 1922.

The parents of this applicant were married March 10, 1889, and the mother was pensioned under certificate No. 928283 until her death, April 14, 1931.

Applicant has no title to pension under existing laws for the reason she attained the age of 16 years prior to the soldier's death.

The medical and other evidence filed in support of the bill indicates she is the legitimate daughter of the soldier and that she has required the regular aid and attendance of another person all her life by reason of imbecility and is also now afflicted with chronic interstitial nephritis, disease of heart, and chronic rhinitis.

She has title to a home place, valued at $200, which is encumbered in the sum of $100. She receives $5 per month from a relief organization. It does not appear she has other means or property or income from any other source. No one is legally bound to her support.

It is recommended that her name be placed on the pension roll at the rate of $20 per month.

H. R. 3053. Virgie M. Plank, aged 54 years, whose post-office address is route 4, Salem, Mo., is the helpless and dependent daughter of Jasper Plank, late a corporal, Company D, Forty-eighth Regiment Missouri Infantry, from August 16, 1864, to March 23, 1865, who was a pensioner under certificate No. 696389 at the rate of $30 per month, and who died July 12, 1918. The parents of this applicant were married August 6, 1865, and the mother died in 1911.

Applicant has no title to pension under existing laws for the reason that she attained the age of 16 years prior to the death of the soldier.

The medical and other evidence filed in support of the bill indicates she is the legitimate daughter of the soldier and has required the constant aid and attendance of another person all her life by reason of congenital idiocy.

She has no means or property or income from any source; a small estate left by her father being exhausted. She is wholly dependent upon charity for sustenance and shelter. No one is legally bound to her support.

It is recommended that her name be placed on the pension roll at the rate of $20 per month.

H. R. 3055. Nancy Jane Berry, aged 87 years, whose post-office address is Federal Soldiers' Home, St. James, Mo., is the former widow of Orelius S. Ware, late a private, Company I, Forty-ninth Regiment Missouri Infantry, from August 10, 1864, to August 2, 1865, who was a pensioner under certificate No. 561069 at the rate of $72 per month, and who died July 27, 1925.

Applicant and the late soldier were married May 8, 1914, and the evidence filed in support of the bill indicates she is his legal former widow. She has no title to pension as such under existing laws because she did not marry him prior to June 27, 1905.

The medical evidence filed in support of the bill shows that applicant is wholly unfitted to contribute to her own support because of chronic nephritis, anemia, and senility.

She has no means or property or income from any source. She is an object of charity. No one is legally bound to her support.

It is recommended that her name be placed on the pension roll at the rate of $30 per month.

H. R. 3059. Mary E. Ward, aged 90 years, whose post-office address is Bismarck, Mo., is the former widow of Asa Hassell, late a private, Company G, Eleventh Regiment Missouri Infantry, from March 13, 1865, to January 15, 1866, and who died September 29, 1877.

Applicant and the late soldier were married March 22, 1868. She is now pensioned as the soldier's former widow at the rate of $40 per month under XC2706314.

The medical evidence filed in support of this bill indicates applicant is in condition to require constant aid and attendance of another person by reason of affliction from nervousness, rheumatism, cystitis,

and heart disease. She has been confined to her bed for the past 2 years.

The evidence also shows that she has no means or property or income of any source except her pension. No one is legally bound to her support.

It is recommended her pension be increased to $50 per month.

H. R. 3060. Ona Gross, aged 52 years, whose post-office address is route 1, box 5, Licking, Mo., is the former widow of William S. Gross, late a corporal, Company K, Sixth Regiment Missouri State Militia Cavalry, from January 11, 1862, to January 23, 1865, who was a pensioner under certificate No. 691000 (now XC2882496) at the rate of $100 per month, and who died June 19, 1932.

Applicant and the late soldier were married May 2, 1910, and the evidence filed in support of this bill indicates she is his legal former widow. She has no title to pension as such under existing laws for the reason she did not marry him prior to June 27, 1905, although they lived together more than 22 years.

The medical evidence presented indicates she is wholly incapacitated for self-support by reason of interstitial nephritis, osphyitis, salpingitis, and rheumatism.

She has no means or property or income from any source and is dependent for sustenance and shelter upon persons not legally bound to her support.

It is recommended that her name be placed on the pension roll at the rate of $20 per month and that the rate be increased to $30 per month from and after the date she shall have attained the age of 60 years, which fact shall be determined by the submission of satis factory evidence by the beneficiary to the Veterans' Administration.

H. R. 3062. Ida Nagel, aged 85 years, whose post-office address is 9927 Niblic Drive, Overland, Mo., is the widow of William H. Nagel, late a private, Company I, Thirty-second Regiment Iowa Infantry, from August 20, 1862, to August 24, 1865, and who died October 12,

1930.

Applicant and the late soldier were married July 19, 1883. She is now pensioned as the soldier's widow at the rate of $40 per month under XC2638067.

The medical evidence filed in support of this bill indicates applicant is in condition to require regular aid and attendance of another person by reason of affliction from arteriosclerosis, interstitial nephritis, hypertension, stomach trouble, and disease of the heart.

The evidence also shows that she has a dower interest in unimproved farm land valued at $250 and owns a small amount of personal property worth approximately $200. Applicant has no other property, means, nor source of income except her pension. No one is legally bound to her support.

It is recommended her pension be increased to $50 per month.

H. R. 3074. Georgian D. Harris, aged 81 years, whose post-office address is Clarksville, Ohio, is the widow of John J. Harris, late a corporal, Company G, Eleventh Regiment Ohio Infantry, from July 15, 1861, to June 25, 1864, and who died January 22, 1889.

Applicant and the late soldier were married July 8, 1882. She is now pensioned as the soldier's widow at the rate of $40 per month under XC2662621.

The medical evidence filed in support of this bill indicates applicant is in condition to require the regular aid and attendance of another person by reason of affliction from rheumatism and disabled left arm resulting from being crushed in clothes wringer.

The evidence also shows that she has a one-third interest in a residence property valued at $1,000. It does not appear she has other means or property or income from any source except her pension. No one is legally bound to her support.

It is recommended her pension be increased to $50 per month.

H. R. 3075. Arzilla A. Bailey, aged 90 years, whose post-office address is 219 West Tenth Street, Elmira Heights, N. Y., is the widow of Gould S. Bailey, late a private, Company B, One Hundred and Forty-first Regiment New York Infantry, from August 14, 1862, to June 8, 1865, and who died January 2, 1909.

Applicant and the late soldier were married December 2, 1868. She is now pensioned as the soldier's widow at the rate of $40 per month under XC2680723.

The medical evidence filed in support of this bill indicates applicant is in condition to require the constant aid and attendance of another person by reason of affliction from chronic cardio vascular renal disease, arteriosclerosis, hypertension, myocarditis, and interstitial nephritis.

The evidence also shows that she has title to a small farm valued at $1,500 and some money in the bank from which she derives an income of $48.50 per annum. She has no other property or means and no other income from any source except her pension. No one is legally bound to her support.

It is recommended her pension be increased to $50 per month.

H. R. 3085. Lina S. Terrell, aged 65 years, whose post-office address is care of French J. Terrell, 1871 Lakewood Avenue SE., Atlanta, Ga., is the helpless and dependent daughter of Lynch M. Terrell, late first lieutenant, Company B, Fourteenth Regiment Indiana Infantry, from April 23 to September 1, 1861, who was a pensioner under certificate No. 1104727 at the rate of $72 per month, and who died August 25, 1924.

The parents of this applicant were married September 15, 1874, and the mother was pensioned at the rate of $40 per month under WC955910 (now XC2714528) to the date of her death, December 17, 1937.

Applicant has no title to pension under existing laws for the reason she attained the age of 16 years prior to the officer's death.

The medical and other evidence filed in support of this bill indicates that she is the legitimate daughter of the officer and has required the regular aid and attendance of another person since early childhood by reason of retarded mental development, the result of a severe attack of scarlet fever sustained at the age of 10 years. The physician states that at the present time there is considerable mental abnormality, together with hypothyroidism, old fracture of right hip, hypertension, and spastic colitis.

She has an undivided one-third interest in two pieces of run-down real estate which net her an annual income of $150 when rented. She

has no other means or property or income from any source and is dependent upon persons not legally bound to her support for sustenance. It is recommended that her name be placed on the pension roll at the rate of $20 per month.

H. R. 3198. Ella L. Brownfield, aged 87 years, whose post-office address is box 561, Water Street, Smithfield, Pa., is the widow of Samuel A. Brownfield, late a private and musician, Company A, One Hundred and Eighty-fourth Regiment Ohio Infantry, from January 21 to September 20, 1865, and who died April 7, 1906.

Applicant and the late soldier were married March 21, 1892. She is now pensioned as the soldier's widow at the rate of $40 per month under XC2693572.

The medical evidence filed in support of this bill indicates applicant is in condition to require the regular aid and attendance of another person by reason of affliction from chronic myocarditis, chronic cholecystitis, and arthritis of hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, feet, ankle, and knee joints.

The evidence also shows that she has real estate valued at $1,000. It does not appear she has any other means or property or income from any source except her pension. No one is legally bound to her support.

It is recommended her pension be increased to $50 per month.

H. R. 3203. Georgianna K. Griest, aged 90 years, whose post-office address is 806 Main Street, Berlin, Pa., is the widow of William P. Griest, late a private, Company I, Two Hundredth Regiment Pennsylvania Infantry, from September 1, 1864, to May 30, 1865, and who died April 18, 1885.

Applicant and the late soldier were married September 15, 1875. She is now pensioned as the soldier's widow at the rate of $40 per month under XC2669078.

The medical evidence filed in support of this bill indicates applicant is in condition to require constant aid and attendance of another person by reason of affliction from unhealed fracture of right hip, arteriosclerosis, aortic heart murmur, general weakness and debility due to advanced age, total blindness, and almost total deafness.

The evidence also shows that she has no property nor means, and no source of income except her pension. No one is legally bound to her support.

It is recommended her pension be increased to $50 per month.

H. R. 3276. Nellie M. Taylor, aged 56 years, whose post-office address is Marion County Infirmary, Route 10, box 167, Indianapolis, Ind., is the helpless and dependent daughter of Corwin M. Taylor, late sergeant, Company G, One Hundred and Twenty-first Regiment Ohio Infantry, from August 15, 1862, to June 19, 1865, who was a pensioner under certificate No. 146492 at the rate of $40 per month and who died December 14, 1919.

The parents of this applicant were married July 12, 1869, and the mother was pensioned as the soldier's widow under certificate No. 892060 (now XC920359) to the date of her death, January 8, 1929. This applicant has no title to pension under existing laws for the reason she attained the age of 16 years prior to the soldier's death.
