PROCEEDINGS.

SEMI-ANNUAL SEPTEMBER MEETING, NEBRASKA STATE BOARD OF AGRICULTURE.

LINCOLN, September 14th, 1887.

In compliance with law, the date being fixed by call of the President, Board met at City Hall, Lincoln, date above named, President S. M. BARKER presiding, ROBT. W. FURNAS, Secretary.

On roll call, the following members of the State Board responded as present:

L. A. Kent, R. W. Furnas, J. D. Macfarland, E. N. Grennell, E. McIntyre, J. Jensen, J. B. McDowell, E. A. Barnes, S. M. Barker, J. B. Dinsmore, J. M. Lee, M. Dunham, S. H. Webster, R. H. Henry, H. D. Kelley, F. H. Holt, E. King, W. H. Barstow, Chris. Hartman, R. W. Blake, R. R. Greer, A. Humphrey, W. E. Hill, A. W. Buffum.

Also the following Presidents of County Societies:

E. King, Custer county; D. H. Wheeler, Douglas county; E. A. Barnes, Hall county; W. D. Wildman, Hitchcock county; A. Humphrey, Lancaster county; R. H. Henry, Platte county; J. C. Warner, Webster county.

Mr. McIntyre made the following announcement, and offered the resolution, which was unanimously adopted:

Mr. President:

It is with a deep sense of grief, that I announce to this State Board of Agriculture that since our last meeting our old and ever courteous member of the Board. and my close associate as a member of the Board of Managers, has died. I refer to the Hon. H. B. Nicodemus, of Fremont, who departed this life June 4th, 1887.

I therefore move you that a committee of three be appointed by the Chair, to draft resolutions expressing the deep sorrow of this Board at the untimely death of so valuable a member, friend, and citizen.

The President appointed as said committee: E. McIntyre, R. R. Greer, Robt. W. Furnas.

On motion of Mr. Dinsmore, Robt. W. Furnas was appointed Delegate to attend the meeting of the "Western Fair Circuit Association" at Chicago, in November next, and that this Board pay actual expenses of attendance of said meeting.

On motion of Mr. Dinsmore, a line of premiums was awarded the Victoria Swine exhibited at this Fair by Holderbaum Bros., Dexter, Iowa, not to exceed $90, less the usual per cent.

The Secretary was authorized to investigate the Pickrell-Tunnison conflict, in matter of premiums, lot 8, class 1, Fair 1886, and pay in accordance with facts found to exist in the matter.

The Secretary was instructed to take one share stock and membership in the American Short-horn Record Association for the State Board.

On motion of Mr. McIntyre, the price of quarter stretch tickets was reduced from 50 cents to 25 cents, to take immediate effect.
