親愛敎中弟兄敬畏 神尊重君王 止住那愚蠢人無知的言語你們雖是自主的卻不可藉此遮掩你們的惡行只當記念自己是 神的僕人務要恭敬衆人 因爲主順服人間一切掌權的或是掌大權的君王或是君王所派懲罰惡人誇獎善人的臣宰 神的意旨是要你們行善 在異邦人中間行爲端正他們平素毀謗你們是作惡的現在看見你們的善行就在鑒察的日子歸榮耀給 神你們應當 未會得憐恤現在已經得憐恤了親愛的弟兄我勸你們既然作客旅作寄居的就當除掉那攻擊靈魂的肉體的私欲應當 的百姓是屬主的子民要你們宣揚召你們出黑暗入奇妙光明的主的美德你們從前算不得民現在作了 神的民從前 阻礙的磐石那違棄道理的人常跌倒在上面是 神豫先所定的惟有你們是被選的族類有君王的尊榮的祭司是聖潔 所以他在你們信的人中間極其寶貴在那不信的人中間雖被工匠所丟棄卻作了屋角上頭塊石頭又作了絆脚的石頭

be not afraid of their terror, neither

15 But sanctify the Lord God in

your hearts and be ready always to

give an answer to every man that

asketh you a reason of the hope that

is in you, with meekness and fear:

16 Having a good conscience;

that, whereas they speak evil of you,

as of evil doers, they may be ashamed

that falsely accuse your good con

17 For it is better, if the will of

God be so, that ye suffer for well

doing, than for evil doing.

18 For Christ also hath

once

suffered for sins, the just for the

unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh,

but quickened by the Spirit:

19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; 20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us, (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

22 Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being

made subject unto him.
