Preferential Treatment was extended to South African products from 1st July, 1904. Under an Act which came into force on June 7th, 1904, there were slight amendments of the preference allowed on woollens, cordage, china, tableware, and common window glass. Under the provisions of Act No. 15 of 1903, which came into force on April 17th, 1903, articles which are the growth produce, or manufacture of Germany, are subject to a surtax of 3rd of the duties charged under the General Tar importation into Canada. st.
