Lord be with them
Alway to the end of time.

MY

15. Isaiah 43. 5, 6. [Sabbatic. L. M.]
Y soul! with sacred joy survey
The glories of the latter day;
Its dawn already seems begun,
Sure earnest of the rising sun.

The friends of truth assembled stand,
(A chosen, consecrated band;)
The standard of the cross display,
And cry aloud, " Behold the way!"-
“Behold the way!"---ye heralds cry,
Spare not, but lift your voices high:
Convey the sound from shore to shore,
And bid the captive sigh no more.
Swift on the wings of heav'nly zeal
They fly, nor seen their toils to feel;
But faithful to their master's will
Their sacred embassy fulfil.

The North "gives up;" the South no more
"Keeps back" her consecrated store;
From East to West the message runs,
And either India yields her sons.
6 Auspicious dawn! thy rising ray
With joy I view and hail the day;
Thou Sun! arise supremely bright,
And fill the world with purest light.

16. The Missionary's rest. [St. John's. L. M.]
H thou by long experience tried,
Near whom no grief can long abide,
My God! how full of sweet content
I pass my years of banishinent.
All scenes alike engaging prove
To souls impress'd with sacred love:
Where'er they dwell they dwell in thee,
In heav'n, on earth, or on the sea.

3 To me remains nor place nor time,
My country is in ev'ry clime,
To serve the Lord my only care
On any shore since he is there.
"While place we seek or place we shun
The soul finds happiness in none :
But with the Lord to guide my way
'Tis equal joy to go or stay.

5 Could I be cast where thou art not,
That were indeed a dreadful lot;
But regions none remote I call
Secure of finding thee in all.
6 Companion, friend, art thou alone,
My work, my object is thine own,
My portion here thy promise sweet,
In thee I shall be all complete.
7. Oh to his presence then repair,
My soul! thou art no stranger there;
Here love divine shall be thy guard
And God in Heaven be thy reward.

17, By an American Indian. [Musicians.]
IN de dark woods, no Indian nigh,
Den me look Heb'n, and send up ery
Upon my knee so low:

Dat God on high, in shiny place,
See me in night wid teary face,
My priest he tell me so.

God send he angel take me care,
Him come hisself and hear um pray'ı,

If Indian heart do pray :

Him see me now, he know me here,

He say,

"Poor Indian, neber fear,
Me wid you night and day."

So me lub God wid inside heart,
He fight for me, he take um part,
He save um life before,

God lub poor Indian in de wood,

So me lub he, and dat be good,
Me pray him two time more.*

18. From the Bengalee.+ [Liverpool. L. M.] THOU, Iny soul, forget no more

The FRIEND who all thy misery bore:

Let every idol be forgot,

But oh! my soul, forget HIM not.

2 Renounce thy works and ways with grief,
And fly to this most sure relief;
Nor HIM forget who left his throne,
And for thy life gave up his own.
3 Brumhut for thee a body takes,
Thy guilt assumes, thy fetters breaks,
Discharging all thy dreadful debt;
And can'st thou e'er such love forget?
4 Ah! no-till life itself depart

His name shall cheer and warm my heart;
And lisping this from earth I'll rise,
And join the chorus of the skies.

5 Ah! no-when all things else expire,
And perish in the general fire,
This name all others shall survive,
And through Eternity shall live.
19. [St. Luke's. L. M.]

"ET there be light!"--thus spake the Word; The Word was God!" and there was ---Still the creative voice is heard,

A day is born from every night,

And every night shall turn to day.

[light."

While months and years and ages roll ;~-
"But we have seen a brighter ray

Dawn or the chaos of the soul.

*Twice as much.

By the first Hindoo who broke the chain of the Caste, and the first Heathen baptised in Bengal, now preacher.

The name for the Divine Being among the Hindoos,

Nor we alone

its 'wakening smiles

Have broke the gloom of Nature's sleep;
---The Word hath reach'd the utmost isles,
The Spirit moves on yonder deep.
Already from the dust of death,
Man in his Maker's image stands,
Already draws immortal breath,

And stretches forth to heav'n his hands.
3 From day to day, before our eyes
Grows and extends the work begun;
---When shall the new creation rise
O'er every land beneath the sun?
When in the Sabbath of his love
Shall God from all his labors rest:
And bending from the throne above,
Again pronounce his creatures biest? -
As sang the morning stars of old
Shouted the sons of God for joy;
His widening reign while we behold,
Let praise and prayer our tongues employ ;
"Till the redeemn'd, in ev'ry clime,
Yea all that breathe and move and live,
To Christ through every age of time,
The kingdom, power and glory give.

20. Psalm 98. [Suffolk. C. M. ]
OY to the world, the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her king.
Let every heart prepare him room,
Let all creation sing.

Ye saints rejoice, the Saviour reigns!
In praise your tongues employ:
Floods clap your hands, exult ye plains.
And shout ye hills for joy.

9 Oh if you know the heav'nly king,
Proclaim hian Lord of all!

From shore to shore the tidings bring,
To all the nations call.

4 No more let sins and sorrows grow
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make his blessings flow
Far as the curse is found.

5 Joy to the world! the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her king,

Let ev'ry heart prepare him room,
Let all creation sing.

21.

Universal reign of Christ. [L. M.]
HARK! the song of jubilee,

Loud as mighty thunders roar,

Or the fulness of the sea

When it breaks upon the shore ;—
Hallelujah! for the Lord,

The God omnipotent, shall reign ;
Hallelujah!---let the word

Echo round the earth and main.
2 Hallelujah !---hark the sound
From the depths unto the skies
Wakes above, beneath, around,
All creation's harmonies:
See Jehovah's banner furl'd,

Sheath'd his sword :---He speaks---'tis done,---
And the kingdoms of this world

Are the kingdoms of his Son.

3 He shall reign from pule to pole,
With illimitable sway:

He shall reign when like a scroll
Yonder heavens have pass'd away :---
Then the end!...beneath his rod
Man's last enemy must fall.
Hallelujah! Christ in God,
God in Christ is all in all !

END OF PART THE FIRST.
