MR. PRESIDENT: Your Committee on Enrolled Bills, to whom was referred Senate bill No. 105, An act making appropriation for legislative purposes, have compared the engrossed copy with the enrolled bill, and I am directed to report to the Senate that the same is correctly enrolled, that it has been properly signed by the president and secretary of the Senate and the speaker and chief clerk of the House, and has been presented to the governor for his approval, this 22d day of January, 1903. MR. PRESIDENT: Your Committee on Fees, Salaries and Mileage has had under consideration the mileage of the president and members of the Senate, and instruct me to report to the Senate that the president and members of the Senate are entitled to mileage as below stated, and recommend that the same be allowed:

On motion of Senator White, the report of the com

mittee was adopted.

Senator Morrow called up Senate concurrent resolution No. 4, which was read.

Senator Morrow moved to amend said resolution by changing the time of report from thirty to forty days.

Motion prevailed.

Senator Cubbison moved to further amend the resolution by inserting the words "the miscellaneous appropriation bill, including".

Motion prevailed, and Senate concurrent resolution No. 4 as amended was adopted.

Senate concurrent resolution No. 4, by Senator Morrow: Resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring therein, That the miscellaneous appropriation bill, in

cluding all bills claimed against the state, due at the beginning of this session, shall not be considered by the Ways and Means Committee unless presented for consideration before that committee and by them reported to the Senate or House of Representatives within forty days from the first day of the organization of the Legislature. The resolution as amended was adopted.

By Senator Tapp: Senate bill No. 142, An act to prevent and punish the desecration of the flag of the United States.

By Senator Vincent: Senate bill No. 143, An act making appropriation for certain improvements and repairs at the Kansas State Industrial Reformatory, at Hutchinson, for the purchase of pasture land and live stock, and for current expenses and salaries of officers and employees for said State Industrial Reformatory for the fiscal years ending June 30, 1904, and June 30, 1905.

By Mr. McMillan: Senate bill 144, An act to amend sections 1 and 2 of chapter 286 of the Session Laws of 1901 and to repeal the sections amended.

Also, Senate bill No. 145, An act relating to state printing, providing for the election of a state printer and fixing his salary, and defining the duties of the Executive Council, the secretary of state and the state printer in relation thereto, making an appropriation to carry out the provisions thereof, and repealing all acts and parts of acts in conflict herewith.

Also, Senate bill No. 146, An act to authorize the gov ernor to work the coal-mines of the state and sell coal to the people at cost, and to authorize the condemnation of coal lands.

Also, Senate bill No. 147, An act to prevent the public exhibition of the eating or pretending to eat of snakes and other reptiles.

Also, Senate bill No. 148, An act making it unlawful to trap-shoot any living bird or fowl and providing a penalty for its violation.
