Also, House bill No. 266, An act to provide for the erection of a bridge across the Republican river between sections 32 and 38, in Lawrence township, in Cloud county, Kansas, north of Rice, Kan., and authorizing the board of county commissioners of said county to levy a tax and provide funds for the same, and instruct me to report the bill back to the Senate with the recommendation that it be passed.

Also, Senate bill No. 431, An act to enable Kingman township in Kingman county, Kansas, to erect a township hall, furnishing and locating the same, and conferring power on the township board to issue bonds to pay for the same, and provide for an election, upon petition, to vote on said proposition, and instruct me to report the bill back to the Senate with the recommendation that it be passed. Also, Senate bill No. 33, An act making appropriation for the State Soldiers' Home and Mother Bickerdyke Home, for the fiscal years ending June 30, 1904, and June 30, 1905, and placing restrictions upon certain officers of said home, and instruct me to report the bill back to the Senate with the recommendation that it be not passed, for the reason that a similar measure has been introduced by the Ways and Means Committee. Senator Peterson moved to substitute House bill No. 4 for Senate bill No. 150.

The motion prevailed, and House bill No. 4, An act in relation to school-land sales and extension of maturity of school-land certificates, amending section 239, article 14, chapter 92, of the General Statutes of 1901, was read the

third time, and the question being, Shall the bill pass? the roll was called, with the following result: Yeas 30, nays 0; absent or not voting, 10.

Senators voting in favor of the passage of the bill were: Branine, Buschow, Caldwell, Carpenter, Codding, Conrad, Crum, Findlay, Fulton, Gabriel, Henley, Householder, Hurrel, Kennedy, Leidy, McKnight, McMillan, Miller, Morehouse, Morrow, Peterson, Porter, Simons, Sponable, Tapp, Vincent, Ward, White, Wright, and Wulfekuhler.
