We are opposed to any movement having such purpose in view, because of the great expense thereby caused the state, the new and experimental legislation that must result from the adoption of a new constitution, and the bitter and protracted contests that would become unavoidable. We urge you as our chosen representative to exert your influence to the utmost to defeat this movement. Signed by J. A. Welch and sixteen others. The petition was referred to the Committee on Judiciary. |
