Senate bill No. 270, An act prescribing the manner in which county surveyors shall establish permanent lines and monuments for land corners, and prescribing the penalty for removing, destroying or defacing any government monument or witness or any monument or witness established by a county surveyor.

PRESIDENT: Your Committee on Cities of the Second and Third Class, to whom was referred Senate bill No. 6, An act to empower the mayor and city council of the city of Thayer to transfer $800 of money now in the city treasury belonging to the improvement fund to the general fund, have had the same under consideration, and instruct me to report the bill back to the Senate with the recommendation that it be passed.

Also, Senate bill No. 165, An act relating to the support of schools in cities of the second class, and to amend section 1, chapter 149, of the Session Laws of 1886, and to repeal said section, and instruct me to report the bill back to the Senate with the recommendation that it be passed.

Also, Senate bill No. 250, An act to amend section 50 of the laws relating to cities of the second class, and instruct me to report the bill back to the Senate with the recommendation that it be passed.

Also, Senate bill No. 39, An act authorizing certain townships and the city of Harper, in Harper county, Kansas, to levy tax for the purpose of acquiring and maintaining a cemetery, and instruct me to report the bill back to the Senate with the recommendation that it be passed.

Also, Senate bill No. 107, An act to empower the mayor and the city council of the city of McCune, Crawford county, to transfer $316.50 of the money now in the city treasury belonging to the waterworks fund to the sinking-fund, and instruct me to report the bill back to the Senate with the recommendation that it be passed.

Also Senate bill No. 170, An act to amend section 164 of chapter 74 of the General Statutes of 1897, entitled "An act to establish an insurance department in the state of Kansas and to regulate the companies doing business therein," approved March 1, 1871, and instruct me to report the bill back to the Senate with the recommendation that it be passed.

Also Senate bill No. 44, An act to require foreign life insurance companies to invest a portion of their gross receipts in Kansas securities, and instruct me to report the bill back to the Senate with the recommendation that it be not passed.

Also, Senate bill No. 154, An act to amend section 3087 of the General Statutes of 1901, relating to partition fences, and instruct me to report the bill back to the Senate with the recommendation that it be passed.

Also, Senate bill No. 176, An act to authorize and empower the board of county commissioners of any county and mayor and council of any city within the state of Kansas to appropriate money or issue bonds for the purpose therein expressed, and to perpetuate the memory of the soldiers of the Union in the war of the rebellion, and instruct me to report the bill back to the Senate with the recommendation that it be amended by striking out "or issue of bonds," in section 1, and passed as amended.
