The board proceeded to consider applications of discharged soldiers for readmissions to the several branches of the National Home.

READMISSIONS TO CENTRAL BRANCH.

The following soldiers, heretofore discharged, were, for sufficient reasons, readmitted unconditionally:

Daniel F. Banks, late Company C, Third New Jersey Volunteers, and F, Seventh Veteran Reserve Corps.

Theodore B. Binet, late Company A, Ninety-third Ohio Volunteers.
John Bohn, late Company F, Second New Jersey Volunteers.
James Buchanan, late Company G, Tenth New York Cavalry.
John Burns, late Seventh Wisconsin Independent Battery.

George Smith, late Company F, Fifth Connecticut Volunteers. Simon D. Trimble, late Company F, Twelfth Ohio Volunteers. John Zimmerman, late Company G, Second New Jersey Cavalry. Philip Zinn, late Company H, Forty-seventh Ohio Volunteers. And the following will be readmitted unconditionally when he reports at the Home in person:

John Williams, late Company E, One hundred and eighteenth New York Volunteers.

And the following, on condition that he repay cost of transportation furnished him by labor, or from his pension:

John Hogan, late Company F, Twenty-second New York Volunteers.

And the following, on condition that he pay his own transportation to the Home:

William Hall, late Company A, Thirty-seventh, and A, One hundred and forty-second, New York Volunteers.

And the following, on condition that he work sufficient to pay his indebtedness to the Home:

John Holland, late Company B, Eighteenth New York Cavalry.
And the following, subject to semi-annual examination:

William Henzie, late Company D, Ninety-eighth Ohio Volunteers. And the following, subject to semi-annual examination, and on condition that he does such work or duty as the governor shall direct while he remains in the Home:

Louis Klein, late Company H, Third Pennsylvania Artillery.

And the following, because of mental weakness, is readmitted unconditionally:

John Fitzgerald, late Company H, Fifty-third Illinois Volunteers. And the following, on condition that they severally assign absolutely, to the National Home, one-half of their several pensions for the period of two months:

William T. McDowell, late Company E, One hundred and twentyfourth Ohio Volunteers.

Watt E. Powell, late Company L, Fourth Ohio Cavalry.

And the following, on condition that they severally assign absolutely, to the National Home, one-half of their several pensions for the period of three months:

Frederick Miller, late Company B, Eighty-sixth Indiana Volunteers. Englebert Zaringer, late Company B, Ninth Pennsylvania Reserves. And the following, on condition that he accepts former penalty, viz: Assign absolutely to the National Home $15 per month of his pension for the period of three months:

Martin Weiderecht, late Company D, Sixth Ohio Volunteers.

And the following, on condition that they severally assign absolutely, to the National Home, one-half of their several pensions for the period of six months:

Hugh McCormick, late Company C, Fourth New York Heavy Artillery.

Florence Donovan, late Company I, Ninetieth Illinois Volunteers. And the following, on condition that he assigns absolutely, to the National Home, one-third of his entire pension (of $31.25 per month) while he remains in the Home:

William Jones, late Company E, One hundred and ninety-ninth Pennsylvania Volunteers.

And the following, on condition that he assigns absolutely, to the National Home, one-half of his entire pension for the period of one year, and do such work or duty as the governor shall direct for the same period. To be summarily discharged in case of misconduct:

Daniel Coleman, late Company A, Eighty-second Ohio Volunteers. And the following, on condition that he authorize the treasurer to send regularly at least three-fourths of his entire pension to his dependent family while he remains in the Home, and do such work or duty as the governor shall direct, for the period of two months, without pay: Alva J. Williams, late Company B, Twenty-second New York Vol

unteers.

And the following, on condition that they do such work or duty as the governor shall direct, for the period of one month, without pay:

And the following, on condition that he does such work or duty as the governor shall direct, for the period of three months, without pay:

Jacob Wolf, late Company B, thirty-second Indiana Volunteers. And the following, on condition that he does such work or duty as the governor shall direct, for the period of six months, without pay. To be summarily discharged in case of misconduct:

Benjamin Ogle, late Company E, First Delaware Volunteers.

And the following, on condition that he labor at Central Branch sufficient to pay transportation to the Southern Branch, where he will be transferred, and there to work six months, without pay:

John O'Brien, late Company C, Third Maryland Volunteers.

And the following, on condition that he does such work or duty as he is able to perform while in the Home:

Stephen Leake, late Company B, Fortieth, and A, Forty-eighth, Ohio Volunteers.

The application of the following for readmission is refused, it ap pearing from surgeon's certificate that he is not sufficiently disabled to entitle him to the benefits of the Home:

Peter Guttman, late Company D, Twenty-sixth Wisconsin Volunteers. And the following, because of previous misconduct, are also refused readmission:

William Williams, late Company D, Sixty-sixth New York Volunteers.

Charles Stokes, late Company B, One hundred and sixteenth Pennsylvania Volunteers.

The application of the following, for original admission, is approved, subject to semi-annual examination:

William R. Hallowell, late Company I, One hundred and fifty-fourth Indiana Volunteers.

The application of John Kuhn, late Company A, Second Ohio Volunteers, Mexican war, for original admission, is referred back for formal application and oath of applicant, to be submitted to the board next meeting.

The application of the following for original admission is referred for the further consideration of the board next meeting. In the mean time, he will be permitted to remain temporarily at post:

Nicholas Florin, late Company F, Third United States Infantry.

The application of the following for original admission is refused-disability not being the result of service:

George Crooks, late Company E, Forty-ninth Battalion New York Veteran Volunteers.

In the matter of application of Charles II. Fisher, late Company B, Forty-sixth Pennsylvania Volunteers, for discharge, the following resolution was adopted:

Resolved, That Charles H. Fisher be discharged from the Home at the Central Branch. But inasmuch as he has refused to assign his pension to the National Home, he shall not be again received, even temporarily, at post, without a resolution of the Board of Managers, after an application inade for readmission.

APPLICATIONS FOR REMISSION OF PENALTIES.

The applications of the following for remission of penalties, heretofore imposed, are refused :

John J. Icklin, late Company C, Eighteenth New York Volunteers.

Harman McChesney, late Company I, Forty-seventh, and Company F, Seventy-seventh, Illinois Volunteers.

John Smith, late Company C, Fourth Pennsylvania Cavalry.

The application of Louis Link, late Company I, Twenty-eighth Ohio Volunteers, for remission of fines imposed upon him for misconduct while an inmate of the Central Branch, is refused.

The petition of

MISCELLANEOUS PETITIONS.

Jesse B. Barry, late Company C, First New York Engineers; Charles V. Patrick, late Company C, One hundred and thirty-sev enth Illinois Volunteers;

J. L. Townsley, late Company D, One hundred and fiftieth Illinois Volunteers;

William Wilson, late Company C, Sixteenth Illinois Volunteers; Earnest Zwicker, late Company B, Seventh Ohio Volunteers, inmates of the Central Branch, for the employment of a teacher to give them lessons in stenography, is refused.

The petition of the following, for a transfer and free transportation to the Southern Branch, is refused:

James A. Frayne, late Company F, Fourth Missouri Cavalry.

The application of William Anderson, late United States Navy, for free transportation to Washington, D. C., and return, is approved, to be repaid if he ever gets a pension.

READMISSIONS TO NORTHWESTERN BRANCH.

The following soldiers, heretofore discharged, were, for sufficient reasons, readmitted unconditionally:

George N. Barber, late Company E, Third New York Volunteers. John W. Dunn, late Company K, Third Wisconsin Volunteers. Hugh Murry, late Company D, Second Wisconsin Volunteers. Thomas O'Toole, late Company K, Nineteenth Wisconsin Volunteers. John C. Poiron, late Company A, Sixth Wisconsin Volunteers. Patrick Ryan, late Company F, Fourteenth New York Volunteers. Rudolph Rosenthal, late Company C, Ninth Wisconsin Volunteers. William Lampier, late Company K, Thirty-fifth New York Volunteers. And the following, on condition that he does such work or duty as the deputy governor shall direct, for the period of two month, without pay: Charles P. Hager, late Company D, Twenty-fourth Wisconsin Volunteers, and D, First Massachusetts Volunteers, Mexican war.

And the following, on condition that he does such work or duty as the deputy governor shall direct, for the period of three months, without

pay:

Daniel Murphy, late Company K, Sixteenth Massachusetts Volunteers.

And the following, on condition that they severally assign absolutely, to the National Home, one-half of their several pensions for the period of two months:

Michael Collins, late Company G, First Michigan Volunteers.

Martin Dougherty, late Company H, One hundred and fifth New York Volunteers.

David L. Shoals, late Company E, First New York Cavalry.

And the following, on condition that he assigns absolutely, to the National Home, one-half of his entire pension for the period of three

And the following, on conditions that he pay his own transportation and assigns absolutely, to the National Home, one-half of his entire pension for the period of four months:

John F. Hassett, late Company H, One hundred and sixth Pennsylvania Volunteers.

And the following, on condition that he assign absolutely, to the National Home, one-half of his entire pension for the period of eight months:

David McLaughlin, late Company F, One hundred and fifty-fifth New York Volunteers.

And the following, on conditions that he assign absolutely, to the National Home, one-half of his entire pension for the period of two years, and that no money be paid to him while an inmate of the Home: William Larkin, late Company G, Ninety-first New York Volunteers. And the following will be retained temporarily at post until next meeting of the board, the application to be presented then for reconsid

eration:

REMISSION OF PENALTIES.

The application of the following, for remission of penalty heretofore imposed, is refused:

Patrick Murphy, late Company H, One hundred and forty-seventh New York Volunteers.

The petition of Louis Snyder, late Company I, Seventy-first Pennsylvania Volunteers, for remission of penalty, imposed as conditions upon his readmission to Southern Branch July 11, 1874, viz: One-half pension for twelve months, printed minutes, page 249, is approved for remittal of one-half of said penalty, in consideration of subsequent good conduct. The petition of William Conniff, late Company D, Third Wisconsin Volunteers, of the Southern Branch, for remission of fines imposed upon him as a penalty for misconduct while an inmate of the Northwestern Branch, is refused.

READMISSION TO EASTERN BRANCH.

The following soldiers, heretofore discharged, were, for sufficient reasons, readmitted unconditionally:

Michael Dunn, late Company K, Eighth New Jersey Volunteers. Joseph Kratz, late Company F, One hundredth New York Volun

teers.

James H. Sweeney, late Company A, Fifth Massachusetts Volunteers. John Tierney, late Company K, Twenty-ninth Massachusetts Volunteers.

Horatio Whitten, late Company I, First Maine Heavy Artillery. And the following, on condition that he does such work or duty as the deputy governor shall direct, for the period of two months, without pay:

James Coen, late Company F, Fourth Rhode Island Volunteers.

And the following, on condition that they do such work or duty as the deputy governor shall direct, for the period of three months, without pay:

Adam Bullmer, late Company F, Twentieth Massachusetts Volunteers.

Alfred J. Pierce, late Company M, Third Rhode Island Heavy Artillery.
