A bill for "An Act to amend an Act entitled, 'An Act to amend ‘An Act concerning circuit courts and to fix the time for holding the same in the several counties in the judicial circuits of the State of Illinois, exclusive of the county of Cook,' approved May 24, 1879, in force July 1, 1879,' approved June 11, 1897, in force July 1, 1897, as amended by subsequent Acts, by amending section 6 thereof."

Whereupon Mr. W. J. Graham offered the following amendments and moved their adoption:

AMENDMENT No. 1.

Amend House Bill No. 40 as follows:

Instead of the word "of" in line

20 of page 2 of the printed bill, between the words "assessments" and "installments," substitute the word "or."

And the amendment was adopted.

AMENDMENT No. 2.

Amend House Bill No. 40 as follows: Instead of the word "installment" in line 28 on page 2 of the printed bill, substitute the word "installments." And the amendment was adopted.

AMENDMENT No. 3.

Amend House Bill No. 40 as follows: By striking out the word "work" in line 57 of page 3 of the printed bill and substitute therefor the following words: "part of the work of said district as originally planned, contracted for, and."

And the amendment was adopted.

AMENDMENT No. 4.

Amend House Bill No. 4 [40], as follows: By adding at the end of line 32 on page 5 of the printed bill these words: "or an assessment of benefits and damages."

And the amendment was adopted.

There being no further amendments, the foregoing amendments numbered 1, 2, 3, and 4, were ordered printed,

And the question then being, "Shall the bill, as amended, be reengrossed for a third reading?" it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Kessinger offered the following resolution, and moved its adoption:

HOUSE RESOLUTION No. 74.

WHEREAS, The Hon. George M. Hollenback, who served the people of his district and State as an able and conscientious representative in the Twenty-eighth General Assembly, departed this life in Kane County, Illinois;

and,

WHEREAS, The deceased throughout the years of his life was a public spirited citizen, a progressive business man, and a faithful and efficient public servant of his district and State; and,

WHEREAS, He was the first white child born in Kendall County and belonged to that fine type of German-American pioneers who contributed their patriotic services to this State and nation in times of war, and gave their untiring efforts in times of peace to the agricultural, industrial and commercial development of our great commonwealth; and,

WHEREAS, By his death his neighbors and loved ones have lost a man whose private and public life was above reproach, and the State of Illinois a public servant who was high-minded and honest; therefore, be it

Resolved. by the House of Representatives of the Forty-ninth General Assembly, That we tender our profound sympathy to his grief stricken family; that this preamble and resolution be entered upon the Journal; that a suitably engrossed copy thereof be forwarded by the Clerk to the family, and as a further mark or respect to his memory that the House do now adjourn.

The resolution was unanimously adopted by a rising vote, and in accordance therewith, and in conformity with Senate Joint Resolution No. 12, at the hour of 10:20 o'clock a. m., the House stood adjourned until Wednesday, April 7, 1915, at 10:00 o'clock a. m.

Mr. G. H. Wilson presented a petition from citizens of Griggsville, Illinois, relating to changes in the educational laws, which was referred, under the rules, to the Committee on Education.

The Speaker presented a petition from citizens of Chicago, Illinois, relating to a proposed law making it a misdemeanor to trespass upon the tracks of railroads, which was referred, under the rules, to the Committee on Public Utilities and Transportation.

By unanimous consent, the attention of the House was called to the absence of Messrs. Frankhauser and Shephard this week on account of sickness, and to the absence of Mr. Tice today to attend a funeral. The House proceeding upon the order of reports of standing committees,

Mr. Holaday, from the Committee on Judiciary, to which was referred House Bill No. 335, being a bill for "An Act to amend section 1 of an Act entitled, 'An Act providing for the regulation of the embalming and disposal of dead bodies, for a system of examination, registration and licensing of embalmers, and imposing penalties for the violation of any of its provisions,' approved May 13, 1905, in force July 1, 1905," Reported the same back with the recommendation that the bill
