408 L Jan. 1:3/4 - The convention for conference and prayer in reference to the imprisonment of the Rev. George Gordon for violation of the fugitive slave law will be held today in the First Wesleyan Methodist meeting-house on Euclid st., near Shelby st.

409 L June 21:3/2 The Rev. A. Crooks will deliver a sermon on "The Nation's Duty in Relation to Slavery," in the First Wesleyan Methodist church tomorrow at 7:30 p.m.

410 L Oct. 4:3/3 In consequence of the moving of the First Wesleyan Methodist church of this city to a more suitable locality, the committee of the Y.M.C.A. have kindly tendered to the congregation of the above place the use of the church on Champlain st. Services will be held in this building every Sunday, commencing in the morning at half-past ten and in the evening at half-past seven. The Rev. A. Crooks is the pastor.

And all this for the extraordinary low price, 25 cents.

The proceedings of he city council were suddenly interrupted last evening by the going out of gas. Light was restored in

a few minutes, and the work of the city fathers went on its proper termination.

425 L Jan. 15:3/2 The city council last night adopted a resolution authorizing Mr. Barlow to go to Columbus and procure the passage of an act by the legislature authorizing the city of Cleveland to fund the stock owned by Cleveland in the Cleveland, Painesville and Ashtabula railroad and the Cleveland and Pittsburgh railroad.

The city council last night adopted a resolution instructing the treasurer to renew the policies of insurance on schools.

427 L July 14:2/2 Something must be done to lessen the evils of the
shortage of silver coin. As a measure at once practical, convenient,
and safe it is suggested that the city issue orders in denominations of
five, ten, 25, and 50 cents on the city treasury, to be redeemable in sums
of five or ten dollars. They could be used by the city in paying its credi-
tors, and could be put into circulation.

in regard to the money lost by the city, and whether it might be regained
from Clark and Williamson, or from those who held it in trust.
