A message from the House of Representatives, by Mr. Dougherty, their Clerk:

Mr. President-The Speaker of the House of Representatives having signed several enrolled bills, I am directed to bring them to the Senate, for the signature of their President.

The House of Representatives have passed a bill entitled "An act concerning invalid pensioners," a bill entitled "An act for the relief of George T. Ross, Daniel T. Patterson, and the ofcers and men lately under their command," also a resolution requesting the President of the United States to cause further observations to be made, with a view of ascertaining the longitude of the capitol, in the city of Washington; in which bills and resolution they request the concurrence of the Senate.

They have postponed indefinitely the bill from the Senate, entitled "An act authorizing the ap pointment of admirals.”

They have agreed to the amendments of the Senate to the bill entitled “ An act making further provision for settling claims to land in the Terri tory of Illinois," also the amendments to the bill entitled “An act for the relief of Joseph Wilson."

They have agreed to the amendments to the bill entitled "An act for the relief of the Presi sident and directors of the Washington bridge company," with an amendment, in which they re quest the concurrence of the Senate.

They have disagreed to the amendments of the Senate to the bill entitled "An act supplemental to the act entitled 'An act regulating and defining the duties of the judges of the Territory cf Illi nois, and for vesting in the courts of the Territory of Indiana, a jurisdiction in chancery cases arising in the said Territory." And he withdrew.

The Senate proceeded to consider their amendments, disagreed to by the House of Representatives, to the bill last mentioned.

Whereupon,

Resolved, That they recede therefrom.

Ordered, That the Secretary notify the House of Representatives accordingly.
