On motion by Mr. Macon,

Ordered, That the bill be re-committed to Mr. Wilson, Mr. Roberts, Mr. Morrow, Mr. Chace, and Mr. Thompson, further to consider and rereport thereon.

The Senate resumed the consideration of the resolution from the House of Representatives for the appointment of a joint committee on the subject of an adjournment; and

Ordered, That it pass to a third reading.
On motion by Mr. Sanford,

The resolution last mentioned was read a third time by unanimous consent.

Resolved, That the Senate concur therein. Ordered, That Mr. Daggett, Mr. Horsey, and Mr. Macon, be the committee on their part.

Ordered, That the Secretary notify the House of Representatives accordingly.

Mr. Fromentin, from the committee to whom the subject was referred, reported a bill providing for the increase of the salaries of the officers of government therein mentioned; and the bill was read.

Ordered, That it pass to the second reading.
On request by Mr. Macon,

Mr. Taylor had leave of absence from Monday next to the end of the session.

The Senate resumed, as in committee of the whole, the consideration of the bill entitled "An act for the relief of Erastus Loomis."

Ordered, That it pass to a third reading.

On motion by Mr. Tait,

The bill last mentioned was read a third time by unanimous consent.

Resolved, That this bill pass.

Ordered, That the Secretary notify the House of Representatives accordingly.

On motion by Mr. Mason, of Va.

Ordered, That the consideration of the bill to ascertain and establish the western boundary of the tract reserved for satisfying the military bounties allowed the officers and soldiers of the Virginia line on continental establishment, be further postponed until Monday next.

On his motion,

Ordered, That the consideration of the report of the committee relating to the claims of the officers and soldiers of the Virginia line, on state and continental establishment, for bounty lands, be also further postponed until Monday next. On motion by Mr. Sanford,

Ordered, That the consideration of the bill concerning certain advances made for the public service by the city of New-York, be further postponed until Monday next.

The Senate resumed, as in committee of the whole, the consideration of the bill for the relief of John Holker, formerly consul general of France to the United States; and

On the question" Shall this bill be engrossed and read a third time ?"

It was determined in the affirmative.

On motion by Mr. Roberts,

Ordered, That the consideration of the bill dividing the State of Pennsylvania into two judicial districts, be further postponed until Tuesday next. On motion by Mr. Roberts,

Ordered, That the consideration of the bill concerning the District of Columbia, be further postponed until Monday next.

The Senate resumed, as in committee of the whole, the consideration of the bill for the relief of the Baltimore and Massachusetts bible societies," and

On the question-" Shall this bill be engrossed and read a third time ?"

It was determined in the affirmative. Mr. Wilson presented the memorial of William Gamble, praying additional compensation for his services as inspector of the customs in the District of Niagara, for reasons stated in the memorial; which was read.

On motion by Mr. Daggett,

Ordered, That it be referred to the Secretary of the treasury to consider and report thereon to the Senate.

On motion by Mr. Sanford,

It was agreed that when the Senate adjourn it be to Monday next.

Mr. Dana submitted the following motion for consideration:

Resolved, That the President of the United States be requested to cause information to be laid before the Senate in relation to such proceedings as have been had for completing an accurate chart of the coasts within the extent of twenty leagues from any part of the shores of the United States, and in relation to such examinations and observations as may have been made with respect to St. George's Bank, and any other bank or shoal, and the soundings and currents beyond such distance to the Gulf Stream, in pursuance of the act of the 10th of February, 1807, entitled " an act to provide for surveying the coasts of the United States."

Mr. Horsey, from the committee to whom the

subject was referred, reported a bill, to provide more effectually for the payment of specie by the several banks within the District of Columbia and the bill was read.

Ordered, That it pass to the second reading.

Mr. Varnum presented the memorial of Joseph Marquand, collector of the revenue for the district of Newburyport, praying an increase of compensation for his services, as stated in the memorial; which was read.

On motion by Mr. Varnum,

Ordered, That it be referred to the committee appointed on so much of the message of the President of the United States, as relates to finance and an uniform national currency; to consider and report thereon by bill or otherwise.

A message from the President of the United States, by Mr. Todd, his Secretary:

Mr. President-The President of the United States on the 21st instant, approved and signed "An act relative to evidence in cases of naturalization."

Ordered, That the Secretary notify the House of Representatives accordingly.

Mr. Campbell, from the committee on finance and an uniform national currency, to whom was referred the bill entitled "An act to incorporate the subscribers to the bank of the United States," reported it without amendment.
