So the House refused to lay the bill on the table.

Under the operation of the previous question, the question was then put, Shall the bill pass?

And it was decided in the affirmative.

So the bill was passed.

Ordered. That the Clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

Mr. Lovejoy moved that the vote by which the said bill was passed be reconsidered, and also moved that the motion to reconsider be laid on the table; which latter motion was agreed to.

Mr. Clemens moved that when the House adjourns, it adjourn until Monday next.

Pending which,

Mr. Jones moved to amend the same by striking out "Monday" and inserting "Tuesday" in lieu thereof; which motion was disagreed to. The question then recurring on the motion of Mr. Clemens,

Mr. Clemens withdrew the same.

Mr. Colfax, from the Committee on the Post Office and Post Roads, to whom were referred various memorials of editors and publishers in the United States, reported a bill (H.
