No. 246, An act to amend section 286 of chapter 80 of the general statutes of
Kansas, the same being an act entitled "An act to establish a code of
civil procedure".

No. 247, An act entitled "A special act applicable to Kearny county, Kansas,
only, to require owners of mortgages upon real estate in Kearny
county, Kansas, to file an affidavit within two years after the passage
of this act showing their interest in the same, and to affect all mort-
gages and other liens where owners of real-estate mortgages in said
county fail to comply with said act to become void"

No. 248, An act relating to private corporations which may now or hereafter
furnish gas-lights, electric-lights, electric power, water or heat to any
cities of the first, second or third class in the state of Kansas, and to
repeal sections 1401, 1402, of the general statutes of Kansas, 1889, and
all other acts and parts of acts in conflict with this act.

No. 249, An act to amend section 3, chapter 198, laws of 1895, entitled, "An act
fixing charges to be paid to the railroads for transportating the Kan-
sas national guard or the Kansas reserve militia, and stores, horses,
ammunition, equipments and baggage of the same, the terms of trans-
porting the same and prescribing a penalty for the violation of said
act and repealing section 3 of said act'

No. 250, An act creating two city courts in Kansas City township, Wyandotte
county, Kansas, and defining the jurisdiction thereof, and the powers
and duties of the officers thereof, and limiting the jurisdiction of jus-
tices of the peace in said township

No. 256, An act to prevent abandonment, pauperism, and abuse of children..
No. 257, An act to establish and permanently locate a state normal school at
Norton, Kas., and making an appropriation therefor.

No. 258, An act to authorize cities of the first class, having a population of
forty thousand (40,000) inhabitants and over, to provide and secure
for the inhabitants thereof by purchase, gift, appropriation or con-
demnation, land and property for public parks, parkways, streets and
boulevards, and to possess, manage, improve and control the same,
and provide for payment thereof; to enable park commissioners or
corporate authorities, in conjunction with the board of county com-
missioners, to take, regulate, control and improve public streets and
highways leading to and from public parks and boulevards, and to
pay for the improvement thereof, and providing for making and the
collection of special assessments and special taxes on contiguous and
abutting property of such highways, streets or boulevards within or
adjacent to the corporate limits of said city, and authorize such park
commissioners to receive by gift, devise or conveyance, land and
property for the purposes declared in this act....

No. 259, An act in regard to persons editing and distributing to insurance
companies any pamphlet, leaflet or other papers upon which shall
be written or printed the rate on any insurable property or risk
within the state of Kansas for compensation, or doing certain other
acts herein specified in the matter of regulating and maintaining fire-
insurance rates, and agents of companies using such schedule of rates,
and subjecting such person and their said acts and agents of compan-
ies using such schedules of rates, to the provision and penalties of
chapter 257 of the session laws of the state of Kansas for the year
1889..

persons in medicine, chemistry and surgery to make expert examina-

port of such examination proper evidence to be received by the jury
or court in civil cases, providing for the attendance of such expert on
criminal trials and allowing expert fees for such services as costs..

act amount of money owing by him for goods, wares and merchandise
that have been placed in the stock, and to whom, and making it un-
lawful for any person to purchase an entire stock in trade of any
other person without first demanding and receiving an affidavit of
the vendor showing the amount owing by the vendor for goods, wares
and merchandise that have been placed in the stock in trade, and to
