transportation to shippers of stock in certain cases, and providing
a remedy in case of failure or refusal on the part of the railroad com-
pany to comply with the provisions of this act, to provide a penalty
for the violation of the provisions of this act, and repealing all acts

and parts of acts in conflict herewith..
No. 267, An act to authorize trial courts to designate credible and learned

persons in medicine, chemistry and surgery to make expert examina-
tions on any pertinent subject in controversy, and making their re-
port of such examination proper evidence to be received by the jury
or court in civil cases, providing for the attendance of such expert on

criminal trials and allowing expert fees for such services as costs.
No. 268, An act to change the names of certain persons in the first section of

this act named..
No. 269, An act to dissolve school district No. 47, Reno county, Kansas, and

attach to and make a part of school district No. 149, Reno county,

Kansas.
No. 270, An act defining and punishing certain misdemeanors in trade and

commerce, making it unlawful to purchase goods, wares or merchan-
dise in an assumed or fictitious name; making it unlawful for any
person to sell out his entire stock in trade at one sale, without first
making and delivering to the purchaser his affidavit showing the ex-
act amount of money owing by him for goods, wares and merchandise
that have been placed in the stock, and to whom, and making it un-
lawful for any person to purchase an entire stock in trade of any
other person without first demanding and receiving an affidavit of
the vendor showing the amount owing by the vendor for goods, wares
and merchandise that have been placed in the stock in trade, and to
whom

No. 274, An act to indemnify the state of Kansas from loss by the misde

meanors or prosecutions and punishment of children imported into
the state by persons or corporations from without.the state, and to
provide for placing children in the state institutions into carefully
selected family homes.

No. 275, An act to amend an act relating to probate courts, and being section

1 of chapter 157 of the session laws of 1891.

No. 276, An act to amend paragraph 769 of the compiled laws of 1889, relating

to cities of the second class and providing for the election of city offi-
cers, including city attorney, city clerk, treasurer, engineer and street
commissioner, and for other purposes.

No. 277, An act providing for the election of presidential electors

No. 278, To provide for and regulate the registration of voters, to regulate

elections and to provide for the appointment of a commissioner of

No. 280, An act relating to forestry and irrigation, and combining both lines

of investigation under one commissioner, the manner of appointment,
the length of term, defining the duties of said commissioner, and
making appropriation for the further maintenance and support of the
forestry stations heretofore established at Dodge City and Ogallah,
and making appropriation for the continuation of experimental irri-
gạtion stations at Ogallah, and managing and repairing irrigation
plants.

No. 281, An act to locate, establish and maintain a state normal school at

Stockton, Rooks county, Kansas, and making an appropriation therefor...

trial school for girls for the fiscal years ending June 30, 1898, and

detached cottage and for building a storage building and for furni-
