Senate bill No. 223, An act to amend section 3 of chapter 246, Session Laws of 1907, entitled "An act to license itinerant vendors of drugs, medicines, nostrums, ointments, or appliances of any kind for the treatment of diseases, injuries or bodily defects, and for the enforcement thereof, and further providing for the fees for licenses and the disposition thereof," and repealing said section 3.

Senate bill No. 224, An act to amend sections 6 and 8 of chapter 271, Session Laws of 1901, entitled "An act defining pedlers, requiring them to take out a license, fixing the fee therefor, and providing penalties for the violation of this act," and repealing said original sections.

Senate bill No. 225, An act in relation to persons hiring conveyances from livery-stables who fail and neglect to return the same to the owner thereof in fair condition, and providing a penalty for its violation.

Senate bill No. 229, An act to protect benevolent, humane, fraternal or charitable corporations in the use of their names. and emblems, and providing penalties for the violation thereof.

Senate bill No. 232, An act amending section 25, article 3, chapter 26, of the General Statutes of 1901, fixing the terms of the district court of the twelfth judicial district.

Manufactures and Industrial Pursuits:

Senate bill No. 203, An act regulating the manufacture and sale of lead, paints and oils and combinations for the use as paint, providing for the labeling of (oil) the same, and fixing penalties for its violation.

Fees, Salaries and Mileage:

Senate bill No. 206, An act relating to the office of the attorney-general, and fixing the salaries of the officials of that department.

Railroads:

Senate bill No. 207, An act amending section 5 of chapter 275 of the Session Laws of 1907, and repealing said original section.

Senate bill No. 228, An act to amend section 6 of chapter 273 of the Session Laws of 1907, and repealing said original section 6, being an act to permit of the free transportation of chapel or church cars used exclusively for religious worship.

Roads and Bridges:

Senate bill No. 208, An act to improve the natural watercourses, rivers and creeks of the state, to provide for the removal of timber and other obstructions therefrom, and to provide for and regulate the construction and reconstruction of dams and bridges in or across the watercourses of the state.

Temperance and Hygiene:

Senate bill No. 209, An act defining the powers and duties. of local health officers and boards of health in the matter of the protection of the people of the state of Kansas from the disease known as tuberculosis, and providing penalties for the violation herewith.

Senate bill No. 217, An act for the protection of the public health, and making an appropriation to the State Board of Health for a state-wide educational campaign for the study and prevention of tuberculosis, and to create a state tuberculosis exhibit with power to make rules and regulations concerning the same.

Live Stock:

Senate bill No. 210, An act for the suppression and eradication of the disease known as tuberculosis in cattle in the state of Kansas, and providing penalties for the violation thereof.

Senate bill No. 227, An act to regulate the practice of farriering and horseshoeing in the state of Kansas.

State Affairs:

Senate bill No. 211, An act relating to public health and safety, and providing for the regulation and inspection of hotels and public lodging-houses, empowering the State Board of Health to make rules and regulation in relation thereto, and providing penalties for the violation thereof.

Senate bill No. 219, An act to amend section 7 of chapter 74 of the Session Laws of 1871, the same being section 1620 of the General Statutes of Kansas, 1901, entitled "An act amendatory of an act entitled 'An act relating to counties and county officers,' approved February 28, 1868," and to repeal said original section 7.

Senate bill No. 230, An act providing for the enlargement of the powers and duties of the state superintendent of insurance, and creating a fire-marshal department under his

supervision, and providing for the appointment of a fire marshal and his assistants, and prescribing their duties, and regulating the establishment and management of the department, and appropriating funds for its support, and providing penalties for the violation of this act.

Assessment and Taxation:

Senate bill No. 212, An act providing for a state registration of mortgages of real property, the fees payable therefor, penalties for the non-payment of such fees, the exemption of such mortgages from taxation, prescribing the duties of certain officers, fixing penalties for the non-performance of such duties, and repealing all acts or parts of acts in conflict therewith.

Cities of the First Class:

Senate bill No. 213, An act providing for the inspection of plans and specifications and buildings in cities of the first and second class, and providing for the appointment of a building inspector and defining his duties, and providing penalties for the violation thereof.

Elections:

Senate bill No. 214, An act to enable counties, townships and cities to purchase and use voting-machines at all general, special and primary elections; providing for the payment thereof; creating a Kansas state voting-machine commission, and prescribing its compensation, duties and powers; establishing rules for the care and use of voting-machines; providing for election boards of three members in certain cases; repealing chapter 184 of the Session Laws of 1901 and all acts and parts of acts relating to the use of voting-machines, and suspending the operating of all laws and parts of laws when inconsistent with the provisions of this act.

Ways and Means:

Senate bill No. 216, An act making appropriation for the erection of new buildings and for maintenance and equipment for the Industrial and Educational Institute of Topeka for the fiscal years ending June 30, 1910, and June 30, 1911.

Senate bill No. 222, An act to establish a state fair at or near the city of Hutchinson, Reno county, Kansas, providing for the management thereof, and making appropriations therefor.

Senate bill No. 231, An act to establish at the Kansas State Agricultural College a division of forestry under the direction of the Kansas Experiment Station, and appropriating funds for the support of the same.

Telegraphs and Telephones:

Senate bill No. 226, An act amending section 1349, article 6, chapter 23, of the General Statutes of 1901, the same being section 1 of chapter 152 of the Laws of 1893.

Cities of Second and Third Class:

Senate bill No. 221, An act to provide for the planting and care of shade-trees on the highways and streets of the cities of this state.

Senator Quincy moved that the Senate go into committee of the whole for the consideration of bills on the Calendar under the head of "General Orders." A vote being had, the motion prevailed, and the Senate went into committee of the whole, with Senator Huffman in the chair.
