Mr. Duell gave notice, under the rule, of his intention to move for leave to introduce bills, as follows, viz:

Mr. Burnett having called up the motion heretofore submitted by him to reconsider the vote by which the bill of the House (H. R. 247) for the relief of the legal representatives of Francis Chaudonet was passed

On motion of Mr. Tappan, by unanimous consent,

Ordered, That the petition and papers in the case of Major E. H. Fitzgerald be recommitted to the Committee of Claims.

On motion of Mr. Pettit, by unanimous consent,

Thereupon

The bill of the House (H. R. 637) to settle the titles to certain lands set apart for the use of certain half-breed Kansas Indians, in Kansas Territory, with the amendments of the Senate thereto, was referred to the Committee on Indian Affairs.

The House having proceeded to the consideration of the said report, Ordered, That the said document (Miss. Doc. 39) be committed to the Committee of the Whole House on the State of the Union.

The amendments reported to the bills of the House numbered 407, 415, 424, and 430, and an amendment submitted to the bill of the House No. 441, were severally agreed to, and the said bills, together with the bills of the House numbered 393, 394, 395, 396, 398, 399, 400, 404, 421, 422, 86, 79, 425, 426, 428, 434, and 436, were severally ordered to be engrossed and read a third time.

Being engrossed, the said bills, together with the bills of the Senate numbered 74, 58, 60, and 59, were then read the third time and passed. Ordered, That the Clerk request the concurrence of the Senate in the said bills of the House, and acquaint the Senate with the passage of the said bills of the Senate.

On motion of Mr. Houston, by unanimous consent, the Committee

on the Judiciary were discharged from the further consideration of the bill of the Senate (S. 245) for the relief of Sweeny, Rittenhouse, Fant & Company; and the House proceeded to its consideration. Ordered, That the said bill be read the third time.

It was accordingly read the third time and passed. Ordered, That the Clerk acquaint the Senate therewith. Ordered, That the bill of the same title (H. R. 427) just reported from the Committee of the Whole House be laid on the table.

The House having proceeded to the consideration of the bill of the House (H. R. 403) for the relief of Mary Bennett, just reported with an amendment,

Ordered, That it be laid on the table.

Mr. Burnett moved that the vote last taken be reconsidered, and also moved that the motion to reconsider be laid on the table; which latter motion was agreed to.

Mr. Tappan moved that the several votes taken on the bills this day reported from the Committee of the Whole House be reconsidered, and also moved that the motion to reconsider be laid on the table; which latter motion was agreed to.

On motion of Mr. Burnett, by unanimous consent,

Ordered, That the Committee of the Whole House be discharged from the further consideration of the resolution of the House (H. Res. 17) for the relief of William H. De Groot, and that the House proceed to its consideration.

And thereupon

The said resolution was taken up.

Ordered, That it be engrossed and read a third time.

Being engrossed, it was accordingly read the third time and, under the operation of the previous question, passed.

Ordered, That the Clerk request the concurrence of the Senate therein.

Mr. Burnett moved that the vote by which the said resolution was passed be reconsidered, and also moved that the motion to reconsider be laid on the table; which latter motion was agreed to.

Mr. Thomas moved, at 3 o'clock and 30 minutes p. m., that the House adjourn; which motion was disagreed to.

A message from the Senate, by Mr. Hickey, their Chief Clerk: Mr. Speaker: The President of the United States has notified the Senate that he did, on the 16th instant, approve and sign bills of the following titles, viz:

S. 90. An act to create an additional land district in Washington Territory;

S. 340. An act to carry into effect a convention between the United States and the republic of Paraguay.

I am also directed to notify the House of the orders of the Senate to print certain documents.

The Senate have passed a bill of the following title, viz:
