R. 299) for the payment of the expenses incurred in the suppression of Indian hostilities in the State of California, reported the same back with an amendment in the nature of a substitute, accompanied by a report in writing. Mr. Larrabee, by unanimous consent, submitted the following resolution, viz: Resolved, That the Secretary of the Interior be requested to communicate to the House the report of Mr. Pritchette, who was appointed to investigate certain charges against A. D. Bonesteel, Indian agent, together with the action of the department thereon. Pending which, Mr. Ellihu B. Washburne moved to amend the same by inserting after the words "together with" the words "the report of the counsel of the Indians, and;" which motion was agreed to. The said resolution as amended was then agreed to. Mr. McRae moved a reconsideration of the vote by which the bill of the House (H. The House having resumed, as the business first in order, the consideration of the bill of the House (H. R. 849) for the relief of J. and R. H. Porter, J. C. Irvine & Co., and Charles Perry & Co., the pending question when the House adjourned yesterday being on ordering the main question on its passage The main question was ordered, and being put, viz: Shall the bill pass? It was decided in the affirmative. So the bill was passed. Mr. Stanton moved that the vote last taken be reconsidered, and also moved that the motion to reconsider be laid on the table; which latter motion was agreed to. Ordered, That the Clerk request the concurrence of the Senate in the said bill. Mr. Bonham, by unanimous consent, submitted the following resotion; which was read, considered, and agreed to, viz: Resolved, That the President be requested to furnish to Congress, at the beginning of its next regular session, all the information in possession of this government, and also all that can be obtained in the meantime through our consular and diplomatic agents abroad, as to the disposition by the British government of the Africans captured from slavers by the British navy; and also as to the disposition by that government of the officers and crews of those slavers. Mr. Israel Washburn, jr., moved that the rules be suspended, so as to enable him to submit the following resolution, viz: Resolved, That the Committee of the Whole House be discharged from the further consideration of the Senate bill No. 191, "to provide for the quieting of certain land titles in the late disputed territory in the State of Maine, and for other purposes," and that it be postponed to the 2d Friday of December next, when it may be considered in the House, the rules being suspended for that purpose.
