· Mr. Murdock moved that the Senate refuse to concur in the amendments made by the House of Representatives.

The President appointed Mr. W. E. Towner as clerk of the following committees:

Federal Relations, Appropriations, Counties and County Lines, Printing, Retrenchment and Reform, and Military Affairs.

RESOLUTIONS CONSIDERED.

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 18, To amend section 1, article 14, of the Constitution of the State of Kansas, Was taken up for consideration.

Mr. Murdock moved that the resolution be made the Special Order for Thursday at 10 o'clock A. M.

Which motion prevailed.

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 19, Relating to the expenditures for the improvement of the State House grounds,

Was taken up for consideration.

The question being: Shall the resolution be adopted?
A vote was had, and

The resolution was adopted.

Ordered that the Secretary inform the House thereof.

House Concurrent Resolution No. 4, Referring to Soldiers' Bounty Land Bill,

Was taken up for consideration.

The question then being upon the adoption of the resolution,

House Concurrent Resolution No. 5, In relation to mail routes,

Mr. Murdeck moved to amend by inserting the following: One from Wichita to Medicine Lodge, Barbour county, semi-weekly.

Upon which a vote was had, and

The motion prevailed.

Mr. Edwards moved to amend by inserting the following:

One from Ellis, Ellis county, to the county seats of Phillip and Norton counties.

Upon which a vote was had, and

The amendment prevailed.

Mr. Simons moved to amend by inserting the following:

One from Osage Mission, via Girard, to Carthage, Missouri, service to be semi-weekly.

Upon which a vote was had, and

The amendment prevailed.

Mr. Martindale moved to amend by inserting the following:

One from Burlington, Coffey county, to Madison, Greenwood county, service to be semi-weekly.

Upon which a vote was had, and

The amendment prevailed.

The question being upon the adoption of the resolution as amended,

A vote was had, and

The amendment was adopted.

Ordered that the Secretary inform the House thereof.
