House Bill No. 6, An act to remit the penalty on unpaid taxes in certain cases,

And

House Bill No. 10, An act creating a metropolitan police for cities of the first class.

Both of which are herewith transmitted for your consideration.

Mr. Butler moved that a Conference Committee on the part of the Senate be appointed by the President of the Senate, to act with a like Committee of the House.

Which motion prevailed, and

The President of the Senate appointed

Messrs. Butler and Johnson

As such Committee.

Mr. Grimes offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the Secretary of State is hereby requested to furnish the necessary number of bill-holders for the use of members and officers of the Senate.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Winter moved to reconsider the vote by which

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 17, In relation to postage stamps,

Was lost yesterday.

A vote was had, and

The motion to reconsider prevailed.

Mr. Winter moved to suspend the rules and reconsider the vote by which

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 6, Relating to postage stamps,

Was lost.

Which motion prevailed.

Mr. Crichton moved to amend the resolution by inserting $5.00 instead of $10.00.

Which amendment was adopted.

The question being upon the adoption of the resolution. as amended,

The yeas and nays were demanded, and

The roll was called with the following result:

Yeas, 22; nays, 10.

Gentlemen voting in the affirmative were:

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 17, Relating to postage stamps,

Was taken up for consideration, and

On motion,

Was indefinitely postponed.

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 18, To amend section 1. article 14, of the Constitution of the State of Kansas. Laid over under the rules.

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 19, Relating to expenditures for improvement of State House grounds.

House Concurrent Resolution No. 4, Relating to soldiers' bounty land bill.

Laid over under the rules.

House Concurrent Resolution No. 5, In relation to mail routes,

House Concurrent Resolution No. 2, Relating to Joint Rules,

Was taken up for consideration, and

A vote being had,

Was adopted.

House concurrent Resolution No. 3, Respecting school lands sold by the general government,

Was taken up for consideration.

Mr. Moonlight moved to amend by striking out 1, and inserting 2 sections.

Which was adopted.

The question being upon the adoption of the resolution as amended,

A vote was had, and

The resolution was adopted.

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 9, Relating to the land grant system of the public lands,

Was taken up for consideration.

Mr. Martin moved to refer the resolution to the Committee on Public Lands.

Mr. Moonlight moved the previous question.

Which motion prevailed.

And the question being upon the reference of the resolution to the Committee on Public Lands,

A vote was had, and

The resolution was so referred.

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 14, Memorializing Congress to extend the time of payment of the lands included in what is known as the Cherokee strip, on the southern border of Kansas.

Was taken up for consideration, and

A vote being had,

The resolution was adopted.

On motion,

The Senate adjourned.

Mr. Simpson offered a petition from W. L. Ewing and one hundred others, asking for a herd law in Drywood township, Bourbon county.
