MESSAGES FROM THE HOUSE.

The following message from the House of Representatives was received and read:

MR. PRESIDENT: I am directed to inform the Senate that the House of Representatives has concurred in House bills Nos. 368, 349, and 290; and refuses to concur in Senate amendments to

House bill No. 361, "An act making appropriations for the support of the normal department of the freedmen's university, at Quindaro," and House bill No. 364, "An act making appropriations for the state penitentiary for the fiscal year ending November 30, 1873;" and refuses to concur in Senate amendments to section 2 of House bill No. 358, but concurs in the amendment adding a proviso.

And has stricken out the enacting clause from Senate bill No. 121, "An act relating to the publication of statements of insurance companies in newspapers."
