Mr. O'Neil moved to amend the amendment by inserting

Agriculture.

Mr. V. P. Wilson moved to add Arboriculture.

Which amendments were lost.

Mr. Johnson moved to amend by striking out Committee on Militia.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Price moved to strike out Committee on Public Buildings and Committee on Public Institutions, and make it read Committee on Public Buildings and Institutions. Which motion prevailed.

The resolution as amended was then adopted.

REPORT OF SPECIAL COMMITTEE.

Mr. Crichton, from the Special Committee to apportion the Governor's Message, made the following report:

MR. PRESIDENT: Your Special Committee, upon whom devolved the duty of referring to the appropriate Standing Committees the several matters and recommendations in the Governor's Message, have instructed me to make the following report:

That those portions of the message which relate to the early history, progress and position of the State compared with sister States, be

Referred to Committee on State Library.

Those portions relating to finance, taxation and revenues,
Referred to Committee on Finance and Taxation.

That portion relating to public schools and school lands,
Referred to Committee on Education.

Those portions relating to State University, Agricultural College, Normal Schools, Insane Asylum, Blind Asylum, Deaf and Dumb Asylum, Penitentiary and Reform School, Referred to Committee on Public Buildings and Institu

tions.

Those portions relating to the tenure of office, of the Trustees of Insane Asylum, Commissioners of State House, Trustees of Deaf and Dumb Asylum, Trustees of Blind Asylum, and Directors of Penitentiary.

And the various amendments to the Constitution and laws suggested,

Referred to Committee on Judiciary.

That portion relating to Agriculture and the Geological Cabinet,

Referred to Committee on Agriculture and Manufactures. That portion relating to the creation of a Public Building Fund, and stereotyping the reports of the Supreme Court.

RESOLUTIONS CONSIDERED.

Senate Concurrent Resolutions laid over being in order,

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 1, Relating to Indian depredations on the frontier,

Was taken up for consideration.

The resolution was adopted, and

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 2, Relating to the rights and obligations of the L. L. and G. R. R., and the rights of the State,

Was taken up for consideration.

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 3, Relating to a United States District Court in the Indian Territory,

Was taken up for consideration.

Mr. Critchton moved that the resolution be made the Special Order for Wednesday next at 11 o'clock a. M.

Which motion prevailed, and

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 4, Relating to a Committee on Investigation,

Mr. Murdock moved that the resolution lie over.

Original resolutions being in order,

Mr. Winter offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the following be added to the Standing Committee of the Senate, viz: Horticulture and Pomology.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Crichton offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the number of members of the following committees be increased to seven each, to-wit: Judiciary, Ways and Means, Railroads, Agriculture and Apportionment. Which was adopted.

Mr. Simpson offered the following:

Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 7, Memorializing Congress for the relief of settlers on the Neutral Lands. Laid over under the rules.

Mr. Price offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the Secretary of the Senate be and is hereby authorized to appoint, from time to time, such assistant clerks as the necessities of the business of the Senate may demand.

Mr. Ely moved to postpone the resolution until Wednesday at 11 o'clock a. M.

Which motion prevailed.

Mr. Brandley offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That when this Senate adjourns it shall be to meet again on Monday, January 20, 1873, at 2 o'clock P. M.

The resolution was adopted.
